Yes, lots of charm if the track day is attended by others in old wrecks who don't mind crashing. Not so much fun if you're there in your nearly-new 911!

Regrettably more and more track days seem to be turning into some kind of destruction derby.

But yes, in itself good entertainment.
Ah, I think I understand now. Trackdays are for rich enthusiasts in 911s?

There are days for rich folk and days for folk with their feet on the ground. Days for chavs in bodykitted Corsas too, popular at Knockhill!

Oh, I generally don't care much for the old BMWs but there's a lot of charm with this particular one.
I really like old BMW's, whiffy old 3 series being a particular favourite, just like to see some more esoteric stuff as well, come on, Austin Ambassador (Y Reg) next week, or a Talbot Tagora, the point is that the SOTW doesnt have to be any good, nobody is obliged to buy it, it is Shed of the week after all, not "Neo classic icon of the week", anything really desirable is usually a lot more than the notional grand so sometimes, may as well go totally the opposite way, I find it reassuring that somewhere, some poor sod is keeping a crumbling Renault 30 or Fiat 132 going against all the odds.

There, get me, telling PH how to do SOTW smile
whence came the Reliant Scimitar from last week!

I'd kill to find an Austin Ambassador or princess etc, but they seem to be as rare as a hen-dentist finding work. If anybody spots some promising-looking flaky BL metal, do drop us an e-mail with the link.... smile

We need to start betting on SOTW.

I'd have put money on it being this. Great choice though, even if it isn't a coupe (it isn't).

Great shed, but I must admit the first thing I thought on seeing '325i coupe' was e36. Even the M3 with its different back window and boot was only ever sold by BMW as a saloon,I have to agree with previous posters, we expect better from PH.
It's not like it's a real coupe, like for instance a 2 door Marina.

As someone else has already said - looks like someone has done what loads of us think of doing but don't get around to. Seller seems a decent bloke - strange how much that influences what you think of the car.

I'm sure that fella is wearing Hi Tec Squash trainers i thought they stopped selling them in the 80's, oh hang on, he is from Stoke smile

Only kidding, top shed, a neighbour has just bought the exact same car and is turning it into a track day car and i am very jealous...

it is extremely wonderful. Buy it now. Your cup will overflow.

More to the point, our four wags and scrummies will be very grateful to you.

I don't want to over-promise exactly how grateful, lest you get carried away and get cold and lonely on my front step in your speedos.

However, as you drive away in your new shed, the assaults on your senses might not be just the multi-tonal howl of the '6' and the gentle barbequeing of your left leg on the bare tunnel, but also the delicious smell of home baking and the characteristic tinkle of a small school of beers milling around in the passenger footwell..

Great advert for a great little car and if it's not a coupe then what is it?

Riggers, I think you guys at PH HQ should snap this up, return it to standard form (with the exception of the suspension work) and sell it on for a decent profit. I wonder if the seller has retained a lot of the standard interior parts but somehow I doubt it. Go on and buy it, next project car for sure.

I had an e30, albeit only a 318. I hated it!! But for some reason I have a lot of fond memories of it and would quite dearly love another e30 at some point. Boxy, fab and sideways..... biggrin

Wow. Every seller should offer beer and baked goods with a sale.

I actually checked my bank balance, but there is only a few pennies to keep the tumbleweed company frown.

I have track dayed my Dolomite Sprint since I got it in the mid 90's and have tuned it to play with many more fancied cars and have never had even a scratch but have noticed that it is often the most expensive cars that cause the aggro and have personally had many close shaves with them as they hate an old BL product catching and passing them!
Some high powered expensive cars are owned by risk takers in business and that often extends to the track.

Oi! Bugger off! I resent resemble that comment.

BarnatosGhost: great little car! And if you don't mind me asking, in pic 4, the photo of four guys on the bonnet... is the chap on the far right Mr Butters? Looks very much like someone I was at school with.

Excellent SOTW Riggers. Good call!

You will need to fit a sump baffle before you hit the track, otherwise you will be pulling up after the first lap wondering why your oil warning light is on.

Not really that fast, but the handling is predictable and great fun.

The Hi-Tec squash trainer is not to be sniffed at. A fine trainer, offering much of the comfort of the Reebok Classic, with none of the associated suspicion when browsing in newsagents.
