How many special editions have there been - the latest was the Competition pack, previously the Edition and I believe there is one more. And none really special.
So they have milked that for what it was worth, and now offer a really special swansong NA M3 - a bit like the E30 M3 Sports Evo (darker wheels than the standard M3) - make it a limited edition car, 1000 or 2000 units and you have a ready market.
Please don't sully the name of the E30 M3 Sport Evolution....if you think all it has was darker wheels than the standard E30 M3 it would suggest you don't know less than fk all about M3's So they have milked that for what it was worth, and now offer a really special swansong NA M3 - a bit like the E30 M3 Sports Evo (darker wheels than the standard M3) - make it a limited edition car, 1000 or 2000 units and you have a ready market.
Interesting concept and certainly intriguing that they've decided to display this on a saloon variant.
I remember it was always stated that the E36 M3 saloon was considered slightly stiffer than the coupe owing to the fact it had a solid metal panel behind the rear seats rather than the coupe's split/fold seats.
Is this generally still considered the case or is the difference negligable?
Old skool alpine white with these wheels for the concept please:
Having searched for the above I 'stumbled' across some pics of the E46 CSL. They got it absolutely bang on perfect with the styling on this. OT, but it's worth posting.
So. Much. Want. (So. Much. Poverty. )

Will BMW ever make an E90 M3 GTR strassenversion or equivalent?
Is this essentially an equivalent to the M3 CSL?
Do you mean an E90 equivalent of this?Is this essentially an equivalent to the M3 CSL?
Iirc, they were manufactured simply to fulfil the homologation rules allowing them to release this on the track and give the Porsche a spanking.
To my knowledge, the new M3 is to be raced in DTM, as to whether it is based on the regular car or the GTS version, I am unsure.

Yeah that's the one I meant, wasn't aware it was a homologation special. Would love to see an E90 version of itIirc, they were manufactured simply to fulfil the homologation rules allowing them to release this on the track and give the Porsche a spanking.

what is it with PH these days?
PH release info that BMW, the company generally known for being the best in the business at making fast saloon cars, release info that they'll be making a lighter, harder M3. A saloon car with a high revving V8 with over 400bhp and people are moaning at the colour.
WTF. i thought this was a place for people who like car
well, i think it'll be a brilliant car. all M3's have been so far.
All true of course but BMW are also probably the best in the motoring world for April Fools though this doesnt really look like one, but has anyone heard anything about this before today, I certainly didnt.PH release info that BMW, the company generally known for being the best in the business at making fast saloon cars, release info that they'll be making a lighter, harder M3. BMW's April fools joke this year was the M3 Royal 'Will' Edition....oh and regarding the car (not the Will Edition), I want one.... badly . Although the E92M looks good, the E90M is simply brilliant. The fact it looks similar to the standard E90 just adds to the appeal. My current ultimate Q-car. I just wish they made the Carbon Fibre roof for it too

Was the Sport Evo with the extra 200cc, wider front wings, adjustable aero at front/rear that much better as a road car than the 200/215/220ps versions to justify the price difference?
