'MINI' Countryman, saw my first one today...
Discussion
I had a look around one of these when PH had the Sunday meet at the factory.
Of the various models they had on display, the Countryman is the only one I'd consider.
It's a good size inside and out (no MINI is Mini really, except inside!) and the idea of a compact 4WD makes a lot more sense for 99% of people than a Shogun/RR sized truck.
It's not pretty, but then nor is the standard car, the original Mini or 99.9% of other cars on the road.
In the right colours the Countryman looks no worse than most other modern 'small' hatchbacks.

A mate of mine has got a Cooper S.
Yes it's ugly. But it's a handy size round the Cumbrian lanes where he lives and the 4x4 is handy for the same reason. It's fast enough to be fun and overtake shed-pullers, tractors and Sunday drivers. It's efficient enough to run as a company car. It's got the five seat configuration so it's perfectly practical and he can get his dog in the boot. Viewed that way it makes a lot more sense than everyone is making out.
I can't believe people are so narrow minded that they think any car made by MINI has to be 10 foot long with 10 inch wheels...

Serious? You looked at many other small hatchbacks recently? Of the various models they had on display, the Countryman is the only one I'd consider.

The CoUNTryman us utterly hideous and the size of the thing is straying into Q7 territory, not one bit of seems to match up and add up into a coherent design in anyway. While not a fan of BMW's branding, the Mk1 MINI wasn't a bad looking car but its just got more and more hideous and this latest incarnation is just awful. Thing is it looks even worse in the metal than in the page.
And it looks pretty damm bad on the page to start with.

The one I saw parks on the same road as a Classic Mini, I'm hoping to get a pic of them near each other at some point, i get a feeling the comparison would be hilarious.
I have a quiet life ya know.
By the same token, there's a 60's Fiat 500 and a modern one that park on my road. The modern one is double the size of the old one.I have a quiet life ya know.

I can just about (only just) get my head round why someone would buy one, but cannot comprehend at all, any way that anyone, (unless they were severely colour blind, part sighted, mad etc) would spend 20 pls thousand of their hard earned, or even not hard earned, cash on a car in such a f awful colour! If you're buying a £500 shed then you have to make do with whatever colour is available (I think I'd still walk away from a shed in that colour, actually) but for proper money, have some taste!Equally why a car company would make them in such a f awful colour. OK, it makes a change form Silver, but there are plenty of other colours available!
