Over a romantic dinner for two, she made a confession.... She hates my car! She said every time she goes out in it, it makes her feel sick. She even feels sick when she drives it... It's the best and most fun car I have ever had, a Cilo Trophy. I guess it's the way it drives, and perhaps the way I tend to drive it that makes her feel sick, she is not the best of traveller in a car.... Shame as it's a top car...

So it has to go... I have considered replacing her instead, but she has approved a substantial budget to get a new car so she is a keeper for the moment.... !!

Looking at an XK8 at the moment which will be a change from the Trophy... Anyone got any experience of them in the real world?

Ride might be a bit better but not much glass area and plenty of torque to move her insides around, likely to be more car sick in the jag I would think.

For least car sickness you want something with good visibility and a ride that doesn't have much movement.

Soft suspension will be worse for car sickness, and the Clio has excellent visibility. The Trophy is very well damped too - just she feel fine in any other cars? Is she just trying to see how much control she has of you?

Sounds like you are heading for a Passat TDI SE, 2.46 children and a dog. :P

How about a BMW 330ci? Would be a big improvement on the ride smoothness, whilst being pretty quick at the same time.

You can get convertible versions as well, might be a good idea with the nice weather arriving

It's her that has to go...not the car.

had XK8's and XKRs, Love them almost as much as they love petrol stations.
On a 200 mile trip on motorways in an XK8 trying to get maximum economy I managed 20MPG I didn't go above 60MPH and "feathered" it everywhere.
In the XKR with my devil horns on I averaged 13MPG on a tank of fuel!

Still love them though, looking to sell my 911 Turbo and will almost certainly get another!

I'd never give up my Trophy for anyone! What is it with men constantly kowtowing to their wives' incessant demands? Stand up for yourself for goodness sake, women only make constant demands because they know they'll get them. Your car, your decision and let that be an end to it. If she fancies going and buying a different car for herself then surely that's her prerogative?! shoot

Mrstheboy loved driving my Trophy. Have you let her drive it or just be a passenger?

My Wife has exactly the same feeling about my car, it's a Clio williams. She hatEs the ride, the way i drive it and thinks it's too noisy???
Well i'm not gonna get rid of it and if she doesn't like it tough, she has her own car anyhow so we'll use that i guess from now on when we go out.

Something smells wrong here.

It's hardly the most extreme vehicle and Trophy's have separate resevoir dampers that actually aid bump absorbtion.

I call a case of badge snobbery.

They do have a hard ride though. The dampers are good but they can't disguise the firmness.

My SO hates my car, or my driving, I can't tell which. She always has the option of running behind, I suppose...

Sounds like you need to keep your 'hooning' moments for yourself.

My lass was a bit nervous of both my ITR and the mx5 but in the 328 she's fine... I think it's got a lot to do with perceived safety... That said she is better then she was and she didn't mind at all coming on PH meets... And nor did I get rid of any of those cars for that reason.... So, maybe a BMW... or grow a pair?? wink
