X2 looks absolutely nothing like it (I suppose it does have a hatch)

Looks like a cross between a Scirocco and CLS

Will be interesting to see the production version, but I think they are going to move it a lot more upmarket and we are probably looking at a £20k starting price.

I have to admit it, the car looks fantastic. Lets hope most of the design gets put into the production car.

210hp from a 2.0L Turbo..... Well... it must have some seriously good fuel consumption / CO2 emissions then... because i would not class that as impressive figures really?? or is it just me?

Yes, the same was mentioned in the last thread. The 2005 on A200 Turbo managed 190bhp from its 2.0T so this new engine is hardly game changing!

Yawn. Haven't we been over this? :
Not as far as I am aware. If you have had this discussion already that isn't my problem.
The solution for all those who want the clever design of the old A-Class is to buy the old/new B-Class. They are basically the same. Those who want a 1 Series alike car with a star on the grille go for the new A-Class. I think that was more or less the reached consensous on the topic.
yes

I'd put money down that it won't happen. This time I mean my money too.

No...that was my first thought on seeing the back. It's better proportioned than the Lexus, but for me doesn't look like a Merc should.

The Concept A-Class already features much more dynamic styling than what we would expect from most Daimler-produced vehicle. Good news if you like that look: Mercedes designer Mark Feterston told Top Gear that the production version of the car will hold on to 85 percent of the concept model's design when it reaches showrooms in the UK.

85%? The lost 15% could be everything that's cool about this concept...

Some production cars do end up looking just like the concept, the current Honda Civic springs to mind. Everyone said it wouldn't look like the concept, but it did.

Is Chris Bangle working at Mercedes now? There's a definite hint of 'Flame Surfacing' there.
