Hi people not sure what section to put this in, so though I would plant it here.

Right at the start of April somebody drove up the back of me when I had stopped in some traffic. Which resulted in my car being send of to be repaired.

Now I have the car back and a letter from my insurance company saying the other person's insurance takes full responsability for the accident.

I have not claimed for any personal injury and am wondering if I will get any sort of pay out like £500 or something.

The reason I ask is a group of friends think I will get a pay out and 1 or 2 of the people think I wont, I dont think I will get a pay out as my car is all fixed now but it would be nice if I did get a little something. Also when I crashed into someone many years ago I had to passengers which did not claim any personal injury and they both got paid £500 each for being in the car.

Thanks for any help you may offer

Yes I did suffer a pain in the neck and lower back for 2 or 3 days after, but again I did not claim any personal injury as I did not want to come across like a claim hungry twunt.

I am just wondering if anyone has been in this situation before and if its likely that I will get paid a little something thats all.

You could easily get 1500 pay out if you sustained any injuries , or if your willing to lie . It's not a big deal and everyone does it , however you could argue that your insurance premium will rise over the next 4 years so they should really pay for that if lying isn't your thing like 95% of the uk drivers

eejert. If you had pain in the neck you should go have it checked out.
You dont get a free award just due to an accident
(not yet anyway)

I know but to be honest I just took pain killers and it went away after a couple of days and like I said at the start when I crashed my car the 2 other people on my car got £500 each and they did not claim for anything.

They payed out for your mates because they knew if they did claim it would be 4x times more . Your insurance premium will rise , that is not a lie

I thought the compensation fairy only arrived if people were willing to say they were hurt.

You are only likely to get a payout for a material loss. Insurance companies aren't in the business of making payments that they don't need to make!

If you have claimed for £500 and can justify the claim then you may get it.

If the claim is none fault and everything recovered from the 3rd party then the insurance will not rise.

If your injury is genuine and you feel you should be compensated then look up a personal injury solicitor.

Bear in mind though that spurious claims hit us all in the pocket with premium renewals

Yes they stated when speaking they will be recovering all cost from 3rd party and that I will not loose my no claim bonus.

I will not be going down a peronal injury solicitor route for the sake of a couple of days sore neck and back, as I am well aware that all the time people do this it puts all our premiums up.

No, you will lose money because your annual premium will increase because you were involved in a no fault claim.

This is why I think that some people make a bogus claim for a bad neck. They know their premiums will increase for the next few years for no fault of their own because the insurance companies claim that they are at more risk of having another accident.

Maybe if the insurance companies would recognise a non fault claim as what it is, non fault, then some people wouldn't feel so justified in making a bogus claim of their own.

Did you see your GP re the pain?

If not, the insurance company will just laugh at you.

MFU,

I'm an insurance underwriter and deal with motor insurance - with my job being that of setting insurance premiums then I can assure you that it will not rise
