Hi guys,
trying to sell my car at the moment on various sites (including this one) and its been up for nearly a month with noone viewing it! Its almost the cheapest example of the model on piston heads at the moment (there are a few old scrappers cheaper) and ive had loads (well about 14 people) of people contact me asking to come view it, all of them never come back when i suggest times that work for me with regards to viewings.

Its really stating to piss me off to be frank, just a waste of my time.

Is it worth Ebaying it? or will that be even worse?

mod edit: no links to ads please

I didn't see what car it is, but it doesn't really matter. Nothing's really moving at the moment.

If you really need the money then I'm afraid you have to keep cutting the price until someone finds it too cheap to resist; or wait.

The 318iS presumably, remember your thread about it. How much is it on for?

ETA: Ah I see it now, looks tidy from the pics. Ad could do with a little correction spelling, grammar & punctuation wise but main thing is, do you really want to mention those bad points about it? Looks very clean on the pics so I would let people come to it and see what they think - depends how fussy people are on a 21yr old car!

As Gizmo says, it does appear as though the market has slowed down.

Having said that, I popped an advert up for my car 7 days ago and had a lot of interest and the second serious viewer bought the car (the first is a great friend of mine but he was just too tall to fit in the car comfortably so sadly it just wasn't the right car for him frown).

I guess the secret is just to be as honest as possible, give as much information as possible and try to keep the car clean and tidy for when you decide to take some photos.

Here's my advert, which shouldn't contravene any PH Police laws as it's no longer for sale (although if I'm wrong, feel free to remove it):
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2725154.htm

Some may describe the advert as too emotional or wordy and to be honest they may have a point as I genuinely love this car to bits but everyone who has phoned all said that the advert was exactly what they were looking for.

Excellent ad. And car! Can see why it sold so quickly. What did you get in its place?

Two things make adverts for me:

1) Lots of information. You might think its not worth detailing the lengths you go to to keep something tip top, but buyers are looking for exactly this kind of information. e.g. regular service dates showing no overdue gaps between service dates = can/can't afford to run it = treated well/mistreated
2)a PROPER set of photographs. Being as honest as you can shows people you have nothing to hide. Ads like "Great car, first to see will buy", but with no pics of the engine bay, or the interior = bin. If you can' be bothered to put up pics that buyers will appreciate, don't be surprised when no one calls.

Thanks.

It sounds silly but bar the odd chavvy text or e-mail it only seemed to attract genuine enthusiasts. This suited me just fine as I would have quite happily told anyone who I felt would have ruined the car to sod off.

I replaced it with an E34 540i manual purely for mile munching. It's a lovely example and fantastic to drive but it feels nowhere near as special or as fun to drive as the Audi.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm not in a rush to sell it so the price will stay firm. It wasn't so much that there is a lack of interest just it seems that everyone messages you about viewing the car and then never bothers replying again! Its just rude!

Also id like to add that my car hasn't attracted too many Chavvy messages.
