I've contacted a seller on Ebay about some alloy wheels which did not meet their reserve.

The seller stated on the auction that he'd removed the alloys from a car he'd bought new from a main dealer. This car would have been around £25k new.

He's sent me the address through to view/buy the alloys and it looks like local authority housing. A quick google confirms houses on this street go for about £110k, so not as if it's London / Surrey where the same house would be billions. The house has no garage or driveway to house this £25k car. The most expensive looking car on StreetView appears to be an early Zafira, so a couple of grands worth.. A £25k car therefore seems out of place.

His emails include "see ya" and "thankx" - which don't inspire confidence either. Emails have been signed off with a nickname, though I have been given a landline.

I'm basically paranoid that either these alloys are nicked, or I'll get robbed as they'll know I'll be turning up with cash.

If they're kosher, then they are a good buy. Doesn't seem to add up to me - what are the thought of PH on this??

You only need an address to sign a finance form, area of housing is no indication of what he can afford or commit to.
if it doesn't feel right walk away, but I wouldn't let the district influence my decision.

Walk past my house during the day and there are no cars.

Sources such as streetview are entirely unreliable, as they are not live feeds. Just to put your mind at ease on that section, my road consists of peugots, fiestas, astras, zafiras, galaxys, saxos and escorts. My Focus RS Mk2 sits pretty, in it's parking bay, so simply saying "It looks out of place" is quite franky, retarded. Lots of previously nice areas have turned into low earning areas due to economic crisis, immigration and other factors. Just lucky my job is in demand.

In regards to the rest;

Language; well, the problem here is the younger generation tend to use this language style. So if you deal with them, most likely will have that sort of correspondence. (I know i'm only 24 on Friday, but most of my generation seem to speak like retards on websites, emails, texts.)

Stolen Goods possibility;

If you want them, and they are stolen, and it's traced, well, It'll be recovered from you and your funds will be a last priority. So bear that in mind.

Mugging Possibility;

Don't go on your own and meet in a public place. If they refuse, back out. Better Safe than Sorry.

Overall it's your call, but I'd say if you feel uncomfortable, then don't do it. There'll always be another sale.

Some people value their vehicle over their house.. Theres a TVR I always use to drive past down the sttest street in the area.

Either that or they may be stolen, who cares tbh. Leave the monies in the car, knock on the door (with a friend if you feel you might be intimidated) and go from there.

Housing is not a reliable indicator. Neither is poor grammar.

Ring him under the guise of something else, "looks like a scratch" or, my question would simply "look these aren't robbed are they?".

Then trust your gut.
