Well for a start look up the mpg and fuel consumption reviews on a 306 gti 6 and tell me if you think a kit car would do much worse..
My mates kit car has a 2.0 turbo YB Cosworth engine. How long is a piece of string?
Seriously, you'd be best off just asking a Mod nicely to close this thread, or just stop posting in it.
You're just arguing for arguing's sake now, aren't you?
Now, you going to tell us all that this super cheap kit car was?
Or is this all just a pack of lies?
I car is long gone ( this thread started in April ) and if I was to attempt to find it, it would only spew more pointless arguing and wouldn't benefit anyone.

Just read greg_d's post. Seems like he knows what he's on about!
I think you may have the shortsightedness I have, I seem to think if I don't have what I want right now life will pass me by and I will regret not getting it. I don't know the truth in this yet but from what the older guys tell me, just chill out and play the long game.
Thanks, I will be doing just that I think you may have the shortsightedness I have, I seem to think if I don't have what I want right now life will pass me by and I will regret not getting it. I don't know the truth in this yet but from what the older guys tell me, just chill out and play the long game.

I got taken out in one by a member on this forum. After the kit car went I was still set on getting something, saw a vx220 and pondered whether it was worth rinsing some money over. It was a bit too tight of a fit for me subsequently led to me with drawing my interest in getting a car at all. It made me see sense. Would you like more detail?

I don't know why it concerns you but it all I'm going to say is it was a well speced track westfield with some expensive parts. Anything more than that will only cause arguments.
Isnt that a problem in itself? If it was for track use wouldnt you have to pay to get it registered for road use etc? Might explain a discount price? If its been thrashed round a track all its life isnt it more likely to have parts which have aged faster than they should have?

I respect some people have to rent because they haven't prioritized saving or they have been forced to move out at a young age
if you consciously chose to rent into your late 20's and into your 30's when you're in a stable lifestyle then you really are a retard

When you first posted that renting was for retard I thought you were just trying to be incendiary. Having read the above I still can't tell if you are just trolling or naïve.
In all your worldly experience of living with mum and dad can you think of one possible reason why anyone in their late 20's or early 30's wouldn't buy a house if they could comfortably afford it? Go on just one? Or would back-tracking on things you've already said at this late stage be too mature a step for you?

Please, just redeem yourself one tiny bit, I'm trying to help you be less blinkered here. Can you honestly not see one single reason why renting could EVER be better than buying?

How was it described, and what was the price, that made it a bargain.
The fact it had 4 turbo and a w16 engineThe car's long gone. There's no reason not to tell us what it is, what it was like, spec, age, mileage, price.
Unless you made the whole thing up.

Yes and I explained earlier it for people who can't yet afford to purchase, need to be flexible/don't have a stable life style or are simply retarded.
Ok, I'll start you off with an easy one. How about falling house prices where you lose more on the house purchase price than the cost of rent? Thought of that?Come on, let's see if you can think of another all by yourself?

Oh dear God, preserve us from this Thatcherite little know-it-all.
Renting is for people who can't afford to buy. Simple as. If you really want to buy (as we seem to be conditioned to aspiring to in this country) then rent a small, cheap place so you can continue to save.
... Or don't feel that buying offers suitable value for money at the moment (houses are ridiculously overpriced). Or who don't want to get financially tied down where they are - a house can be a real ball and chain if you have to/want to move location and the market is poor.Renting is for people who can't afford to buy. Mind you, interesting that an unemployed graduate who is reduced to sponging off mummy and daddy feels qualified to make a remark like 'renting is for retards' though ....
Theres a lot of potentially good news of the world and daily fail reporters in here

Im in a stable part of my life. 21 years old, Employed, Getting qualified etc and currently live with my parents.I'm going to be moving out within the next year though and i dont see how it makes me retarded...
I'll just enjoy the fact that when i hook up with a girl on a night out i wont have to say 'shhh you'll wake up mum and dad in the room next door'
I can see myself renting until i find a long term relationship where we are both working full time. Reason being, a deposit on even a 1 bed is around £20k from what i've seen and i wont be able to borrow enough money to buy a flat until the household income is ~£30 - 40k anyway.
Read the fking thread.
If you don't want to live with your parents that's fine, I'm happy to live here until I get a deposit sorted

As far as I'm aware, I was not classified as retarded recently.
Gareth, not everyone's life falls into the 'Uni -> Job -> Mortgage -> Wife -> Kids -> Grow old' jelly mold lifestyle. You have clearly not realised that yet. I genuinely hope you experience enough during your travels to help your maturity.
If you want to be flexible that's fine, but if you're in a stable situation where you don't see yourself moving then you ARE a retard.

That is only one of many, many arguments to counter what you have been saying but at least your eyes have been opened to the fact that you make blanket, offensive statements without any key knowledge or understanding of the topic you are talking about. I interview cocky, arrogant guys like you all the time and most of them end up talking themselves out of the opportunity of a lifetime.
So you will be renting your entire life?I'm open to an 'economics discussion'
I'm not only one 'making' blanket statements
