As I drive a z4 I'm no doubt being called tosser anyway so why should I feel bad for overtaking someone in a safe mannor? I paid for the fuel and I'll burn it how I please !
So you are exempt from any courteousness because you paid for your fuel?

I see flaws in this attitude as well as in your spelling of "manner."

In all fairness though, even if you're overtaking properly (i.e. with no inconvenience to the "overtakee") you still often feel their eyes burning into the back of your head.

I've always thought the reasons are:

1) They weren't paying attention to their mirrors so you startled and annoy them.

2) They have misjudged the conditions and believe they are maintaining an appropriate speed, so by extension you are a hooligan driving too quickly.

3) They have deep routed psychological issues which means they feel emasculated when overtaken, especially by a car that is perceived as having modest performance.

All human nature. Just ignore them and get on with it.
I love it when the whole overtake is done and dusted so quickly that the first thye know of your existence is your car a safe distance in front doing a speed just greater than them, as if you have appeared out of thin air.

Usually the 'recipient' of this is one of those 38mph everywhere eyes fixed straight ahead types.

If I get an angry flash of the headlights when I overtake then so much the better.

It's always nice to know that you managed to snap them out of their trance-like state wink

Don't know where this nonsense about it being 'chav' to overtake in an average car came about. If you are proceeding at an appreciably higher speed than the car in front and it's safe to do so, then overtake. End of story.
