While I agree this is a stunning achievement in engineering and aural terms I'm not too sold on the looks for the simple reason that it looks almost identical to a Murcielago but with a Khan bodykit on it. I thought this was supposed to be a totally new car? If this was a new 911, it would be getting slated for looking the same as all other 911's and Porsche not having any imagination etc. While the Murcielago is certainly a decent looking thing, I was expecting something a little bit different.

Wow. I think this thing looks fantastic.

Although I do think that the Murcielago's looks will age better...is that weird?

I think the problem is that there is only so much you can do with the 'Supercar' shape.

They all have to be a low wide wedgey shape and most of the really inovative, different versions of this have already been done.

Also it has to be instantly recognisable as a Lambo.

The only recent cars that havent followed the usual formula are the Veyron and the Gumpert Apollo and lets face it both of those are munters.

As an evolution of the V12 Lambo - Muira - Countach - Diablo - Murcie I thing it works well. You'd never mistake it for a Porsche or Ferrari.

Would my 200 large go in it? Hmm not sure. A 458 or MP14 would probably be far more useable but obviously not as much of a head turner.

Agree with this about the shape, how many sleek designs can come from a midship layout?

Front - stunning, as per mecielago

Side profile - Good looking, not as coherent as Mercielago

Rear - UGLY, Mercielago has a much nicer arse!

This is actually good value compared to entry level 458 and the new 4x4 hatchback Ferrari are making.

Sadly never been in a Lambo and unlikely to get a go in this in the foreseable but in the last pic that steering wheel looks very high - the rim is almost at eye-level??

Or is it just a strange camera angle.

Loving it though, what a car!!

Stunning, I absolutely love it. Maybe I would still rather have a Diablo, but this Aventador is a killer car.

While I'm not entirely sold on the design, I wouldn't have said it could be mistaken for the Mucielago, it looks very different to my eyes.
The interior looks a bit Tomy Bigtrak to me, and it needs a wing wink.

Is there a functional purpose to the black areas under the tail lights? If yes, what?

Very different? If you cover the rear 3/4 with your thumb this "new" car is almost identical the the old Murcie. While I agree with other posters that their is only so much you can do with the classic wedge shape, I still think they could have changed some of the details to make it look differet. The front of the car is especially lazy, look at a picture of the front of a Murcie and tell me that's not a straight copy and paste job. It's still an impressive car no doubt but I wished they'd done something a little more adventorous with the looks.

cloud9 I can't think of a supercar I've properly... wanted since the carrera gt. And IMHO the looks are way better than the murci - thankyou lamborghini for reminding me what the supercar is about.
