Also could mid corner changes possibly destabilize the car? I was always taught that smooth was fast and that reliability depended on a certain amount of mechanical sympathy
Precisely what worried me too. With a full manual box at least you can choose whether or not to engage the next gear with a thump. If I'm pressing on, on a less than ideal surface it had bl**dy well better engage the next gear with finesse or else.

It also needs to lose the silly 80's video game dash - though I guess that might help sell it to the posers.

Wow. Just wow.

So this is quicker than the Mc F1 to 60, what about 100mph, 125mph and beyond?

Wow. Quite a mixed bag of responses!

The Murci never did it for me. It was the first post 1980's Lambo which, based on aesthetics, I found myself looking at, saying I would "never buy if I had the money" (which I dont, so it doesnt matter) smile To be fair the Murci is a formidable super car contender, a drivers car in many respects, although personally Id still go Gallardo if my wallet was infinitely deep.

The arse-end of the murci was not to my liking, in a similar sort of way that the TVR Griffith's rear looked like a half sucked boiled sweet to me, yet I seem to be alone in my thoughts on both counts. The Aventador from the rear, in my opinion and in comparison to the Murci, is far more attractive!

From a side or three quarters view, the Aventador is more similar to a Diablo than the Murci was, as far the vehicles lines and angles of definition go. This I like, a great deal!

Being a hug fan of the Gallardo's front end design, and the similarities between the two, I love this car, all round. Its simply brilliant! Excites me whereas the Murci didnt when I first saw photos of it.

Visually stunning, but looks aside, in many ways this is a better Lambo or improved than its predecessor. Luckily for those who 'wouldnt want one' there are plenty of older models available in the classifieds section - if you can afford one.

The is also a first 10/10 for me. And the first time in donkeys years a car has knocked another off top spot in my fantasy garage list.

Love it!

Lambos have always been a cut above Ferrari, for me anyway, in terms of "What a Crazy Awesome Car, I want one!" and this fills my boots.

Cant make my mind up about the dash display. But if Im sitting on the fence, I'll happily swing my legs over Lambo side. Ive owned a few cars whose quirks and differences made them different, I dont think the display warrants a negative jibe at the car itself. Perhaps we'll look back at analogue dashes in the future and quip at how strange they seem, perhaps not.

Again, 10/10.
And wow!

While I agree this is a stunning achievement in engineering and aural terms I'm not too sold on the looks for the simple reason that it looks almost identical to a Murcielago but with a Khan bodykit on it. I thought this was supposed to be a totally new car? If this was a new 911, it would be getting slated for looking the same as all other 911's and Porsche not having any imagination etc. While the Murcielago is certainly a decent looking thing, I was expecting something a little bit different.
While I'm not entirely sold on the design, I wouldn't have said it could be mistaken for the Mucielago, it looks very different to my eyes.
The interior looks a bit Tomy Bigtrak to me, and it needs a wing wink.
Very different? If you cover the rear 3/4 with your thumb this "new" car is almost identical the the old Murcie. While I agree with other posters that their is only so much you can do with the classic wedge shape, I still think they could have changed some of the details to make it look differet. The front of the car is especially lazy, look at a picture of the front of a Murcie and tell me that's not a straight copy and paste job. It's still an impressive car no doubt but I wished they'd done something a little more adventorous with the looks.
Even from same angle and same colour, the lines are very different dispite the carry over of some features:

Shame the Gallardo's mpv quarter windows have made there way over to this.

And when you flick the right paddle at full throttle and there’s a huge thump from behind as the next gear goes in...
This, a thousand times this, makes me prefer this car over any dual clutch equipped supercar. I want a supercar to be visceral and violent, not supersmooth and precise. I want a thump in the back when the next gear engages, not a seamless wave of acceleration. Well done Lambo, well done.

Not that I'll ever be in the position to own one of these and probably won't ever drive one
this is one of the reasons i love a manual box, when you change gear, you get a thump as you stamp on the loud pedal again and makes you realise just how hard a car is still pulling, something i feel is missing from dual clutch boxes some times. sounds like lambo have that spot on.

love it, love it, love it!! wasn't sure when i saw the 1st piccies but its really grown on me.

i suspect very similar 0-100 or 0-125 but then i'd have thought the mclaren begin would pull away. i think it's relatively "slow" 0-60 times compared to some of the newer metal is purely traction. it's only RWD and no traction control system, 627bhp and 1140kgs....

interestingly, the new mclaren mp4-12c is identical 0-124 than the mclaren f1...only then does it begin to slow compared to old f1. bare in mind, also, that the f1 has a manual gearbox, so every gear change it's losing a good 0.2+ seconds.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Baring that side scoop, those two cars look almost identical to me in those pics.

I guess I'm well in the minority when i say "I don't like it"....
Actually It's not that i dont like it. If someone showed it to me and said "This is the new Honda NSX" I would like it, I'd think that all that overstyling, and LED madness and compubabble dash was just about right for those crazy Japanese.
But for an Italian car....No, not for me. As a piece of engineering and as a dynamic and thrilling sports car, I am in no doubt that it's leaps ahead of the Murci, but as a Stylish piece of Italian exotica it doesnt do anything for me.
But hey, i adore the new Ferrari FF, so dont pay to much attention to my ramblings :-)

But the looks are what get me. Front good, side 'ok' (too much Gallardo and wing mirrors in doors, 3/4 glass yuck), back doesn't feel angry enough vs front.

Dash gauges are horrible. I want analog speed and rpm in a fast road car thanks. Speed AND rpm are important to see big and clear with a way to see rate of change of those values too!

Amazing car, not too sure about the colour on this one though.

Interior looks too plastic and German for an Italian supercar.

Steering wheel looks fugly.
