My dad has just taken a 350z out for a test drive, but its a bit impractical size wise. Apart from that he loves it.

Could anyone recomend something as much craic but more practical? Like a 2+2 maybe? I think he realised after driving it that he actully needs to give people a lift sometimes, and is a bit gutted by it.

Also anyone know what the real world mpg on one of these would be?

Cheers.

real world mpg can go from high 20s even low 30s for motorway runs to high teens for town driving, and single figures for track use biggrin

As for the lifts.... give them to 1 person at a time, problem solved! biggrin

MPG is likely to be 18-22mpg on the lower end and 25-28mpg higher end. Depends how and where you drive really.

As for alternatives, well that depends too. Such as budget and what type of car are they after.

As in, do they want a coupe, does it need to be fast, do they want grunty, etc.

Not knowing your budget makes it harder to suggest alternatives. Also knowing what type of use and mileage would be handy too.

But some possible alternatives could include:

-mint 300ZX Twin turbo
-Nissan s14a
-BMW e36 M3
-BMW e46 330
-BMW e46 M3
-Jaguar XK8/R
-Jaguar XJS
-Mazda RX-8
-Mazda RX-7 FD (with rear seat option)
-Porsche 944 Turbo
-Porsche 968
-Porsche 911 (964/996)
-Mustang GT/Mach 1/Cobra/Bullet sn95
-Mustang V6/GT s197
-Pontiac Firebird Trans Am/GTA/Firehawk Gen 2, 3, or 4
-Chevy Camaro z28/SS Gen 2 thru 4
-Ford Mustang Foxbody
-Toyota Supra MKIV TT
-Honda DC5 ITR
-Subaru Impreza P1 or STI Type R 3 door
-Evo of some kind if they don't mind a 4 door saloon
-TVR Cerbera
-Porsche 968
-tweaked 260/280z
-Nissan Skyline R32/33/34 GTS/GTS-T/GTR
-Merc SL coupes

Well, as good as all the toehrs are, if he wants a 2+2 350Z, then why not have a 350Z 2+2? Huh, I hear you ask? The Skyline 350GT, (sedan is a big comfy saloon car with the same chassis, engine, blah blah, and the coupe is the 2+2 version, (which oddly is heavier than the sedan version)

So, so boring... But the E46 M3 has to be his first port of call.

Cheers for all the replys!

The story is that he had a 525 auto bmw, then the gearbag or something went and he got talked into getting a diesel E280(I think) Merc, which to be fair is quick enough but he said its too boring, and I agree! Even if you slam the pedal down you never really get a kick up the arse.
Also when he got it he was complaining about the back seats not going down flat to fit stuff in. So I dont know why hes looking at a 350z. But then he does have a van anyway.

I think hes just after something more exciting so Ill pass on the list, and hopefully find something to do him!

Cheers!

I have a 350Z and it's a great car. Sounds fantastic, is reasonably quick, comfortable and fairly exclusive. It is hugely impractical though as your old man found out!

I have an RX-8 too (for sale idea) which is far more practical and would be perfect for your father. Hint hint...

I must update my profile :?

I've got one of these and it's great.

Great engine, auto box behaviour is a little odd, it's skyline branded and it's almost like they've tried to replicate the turbo feel, floor it and not much happens for a second or so then it just takes off, and the tiptronic option works well.

It does feel heavy but it's a lovely thing to just drive.

Real world MPG is piss poor around town and not great on a proper run but RSP apparently have a remap which helps this and I'll be doing it over the summer.

I had the sedan version when I was in the states. Odd looks, but great noise, and lovely engine.
