Huh?

If you speak English (and i assume from your post that you do), then it's pretty obvious, surely?

Historic = Old
Replica = Look-a-like
Kit Car = A kit made into a car
Rebuild = A rebuilt car
Competition History = A history including competition
Not = You got me here. I'm stumped over this too.

I would have said the term applies to anything which is trying to look like something which it's not, therfore applies to everything from a kitted up MR2 to the 356 and Cobra replicas.

Kit cars like GTMs and Fishers are a different kettle of fish. They're not trying to be anything their not.

Caterfields though, I'm not too sure what I'd say of those. Sure they're not badged up as anything other than a Caterham or Westfield, but essentially it's a Lotus 7 replica.

A copy. Nothing more, nothing less. Not all copies are equal though wink

A plastic bodied Cobra with a Rover V8 would probably be more acceptable to most people than a hashed up MR2 Ferrari...

Indeed, It's a RallyRep quattro... IMHO... Even though it does sometimes work for its living... Even though it first ran competitively in 1994...

It's more a question from the recent breakfast clubs really, only I'm not 'up' on the established historic cars. So I'm quite naive on the 'real' v 'Replica' v 'kitcar' thing... And I'm struggling to work out what, really is what.

Technically a replica is identical to the original.

Anything else is a misuse of the term.

Ours is built for a job, not to replicate... Even though it's in the basic international livery.

Frazer Nash sold both TT Replicas and Le Mans Replicas in the 1930s. These are original cars, and were sold as replicating the spec of the competition cars form those events. It is now possible to buy a Le Mans Replica replica smile
