Go for it! I've been very tempted by similar 911's, I'm sure I'll succumb soon! You only live once! Take it for a test drive and you'll know if you should or not.

I'd give a Tip a swerve if I were you.

Read my thread of misery and expense here

Also mine cost me a fecking arm and a leg, and was by some margin the most unreliable car I've ever owned.

It was great when it was working well to be fair. But I wouldn't buy another.

It might be cheap to buy but running costs remain those of a £60k car!

Now, that aside, 'get it bought'!!

Just read through that thread. Must have been VERY frustrating. frown What was the conclusion in the end?

Sold the thing whilst it was running more or less ok, after the gearbox had seen it's SEVENTH outing. That thread isn't the whole story actually, I got bored posting about the failures in the end!

And it appears I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have the engine's intermediate shaft bearing let go, lunching the entire motor.

Porsche need to have a serious word with themselves, producing crap like that.

Seems a bargain to me, but it is pretty high mileage.

Looks like it's worth a punt to me, it's hardly going to depreciate any more smile

I have a theory that 911s are like 50Hz mains hum. You are so used to it you don't hear it. There are so many 911s on the road they've ceased to be special. I saw a 308 in Bond Street yesterday and it was a real head-turner.

Dunno about these but I'm looking after a mate's 993 & you certainly hear the air-cooled ones coming!

Just noticed the MPG figures are down to hundredths on this AT ad - never seen that before: 23.74MPG ? A bit precise isn't it.

Cracking car and a bargain if it's a good one. Would ideally go for a 993 myself but I guess you'd be about half as much again on the price for something worth owning............

My 996 just ticked over 99000 miles and is still running strong smile IMO a higher mileage but well cared for example is the best bet, they like to be used regularly and properly. Only thing wrong with the one you posted is it's tip. Get a manual!

You may like to counteract the horror stories by browsing this

Great cars and very usable. I use mine daily, for everything, putting over 13k miles on it in the last year without any problems.

Find a well respected indy to look after it, running costs do not need to be extortionate. Or look into the Hartech Maintenance Plan which is excellent.

You won't regret it!
