A weird halo has built up around the 4.0, especially as the values have grown out of proportion to the 3.8. They are very very similar cars and what differences/small improvements the 4.0 has over the 3.8 can be quite easily replicated by changing the required bits of rear suspension. The engine has a decent amount more torque especially at mid range rpm but apart from that, no one with a 3.8 should really be thinking it's lacking anything to the 4.0 imo.....

Totally agree, it was the engine woes I read about that made me plump for a 4.0 , plus I preferred a manual box.Btw bought a Sapphire blue with silver wheels. Fixed buckets, but no scaffolding in the back (a preference of the wife!!)

I remember chasing one around Zandvoort, back in the day, not a lot in it. Also had 996’s up the chuff in my 3.8 so, as ever, it’s more about the driver than the car in the actual “car” ability stakes.
4.0 is a rare, nice to own machine and the premium on values is based on that rather than any performance delta and fair enough, I would love one. For the 3.8RS, Cup toe arms and solid inner bushes on the rear LCA’s and you’ll be about where the 4.0 is suspension wise I think.

Exactly.Do you know how many C16 Greyblack with WG exist - I was told about 7 or 8 but that sounds very low to me ?
I was told even less - 4/5 examples for UK market in this colour combo. Includes Porsche’s original press car ‘Hebe’ which famously they’ve kept on the books.
No 4.0 envy here

Yes, I think there were 6 RHD cars in total. Sorry - confusingly worded. I meant to my knowledge they never made a maritime blue 993 RS CS, certainly not in RHD and I don't think in LHD eitherGassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
