Pcm 2.1 Update / Small Issue

Hi guys

Does anyone know where I can get the latest firmware/hack update disc for my Sat Nav in the 997 PCM 2.1 I think, it's seriously out of date and when I had it in my 2009 plate cayman it was not too bad, had a quick look on eBay but nothing it kicking about.

Used to be a few "disc" knocking around when I used to have my z4m with helped with updates.

Second point I might have a little fault, I can enter the destination fine it plots it out and starts directing me , when all of a sudden it seems to lose where we are and heads off in a random direction still directing me kinda! Along fields etc , normally when a road is not on the map it seem not to be able to get back on the major truck road and keeps plotting along ... Does it need a update or is something not working right. Every time if have tried to use it it not worked all that well.

Possible gps signal fault?

Sounds like a fault - I had similar in mine when I got it, in that it always thought I was somewhere I wasn't.

I think it was a dodgy connection of the antenna, which was duly fixed and worked fine since.

Can't help with the discs though, sorry!

Thanks for the info , done a bit of internet research and a lot suggest the gps aerial under the wiper cover in the front , so I have a look at this , hopefully I can source some new maps.

Paul can you remember what actual work was carried out?

I know this is not that helpful really but I have had that stupid PCM 2.1 system for over 4 years with the diabolical Bose system too. Finally had enough & spent £2.5k on a pioneer touchscreen, with new amp, speakers all round & loads of soundproofing in the car. It is approximately 1 million times better now.

OP: Not sure if you need the DVD or CD, but this is a good resource and should have what you need.

Sorry for going a bit O/T but where did you get the installation done?
I too am fed up with the Bose rubbish - there is no mid-range or any sort of bass definition with the Bose speakers - can you PM me details of what model amp / speakers etc you have installed now? Thanks.

The difference is staggering! You can just upgrade the audio not the head unit if you want to keep the oem look but honestly the pcm and bose system is a huge steaming turd compared to the full beauty as set out above.
