I see that Continental is (or has?) releasing a new tyre for street and track duty, the ContiForceContact. I am interested to see how these compare to the Dunlop Sport Maxx Race, as there is very little in this segment (other that Corsa System) before you start going more hard core ala Pilot Sport Cups/ R888s.

I have no affiliation with Continental, just pleased to see another tyre for the segment.

Edit: Looks like it has been out for a while and I am behind the times! Just not heard anybody talk about it.

I see also available in 996 GT3 sizes.

In 996 sizes there is also Yokohama AD08 and AD08R, Pirelli Trofeo and Trofeo R. I assume these are also available for 997s?

As you have seen, they have been available for a while. They were first released for E9x M3s and 997s. I saw Autobild doing some testing a couple of years ago using these tyres at the ring but I have never see a car using them.

If you had seen Sabine's RS at the ring in the last couple of years then you would have - that is what she runs it on (which was the first time I saw them fitted to anything). They are far from common though and I don't think that I know anyone personally who has used them.

To be honest I have never looked at the tyres on her car. Explains the Continental stickers though.

Slight thread hijack - apologies OP

Interested in people's views between the Conti CFC v Michelin PSS v Pirelli Trofeo - looking for new summer tyres for the 997. Loved the Michelin PSS on a previous car and they were surprisingly good in the wet - any views on the others or whether I should hold out for the upcoming Michelin Sport Cup 2's??

These are for summer use only as have a set of winter rims and tyres for Nov-Apr...

According to the Sport Auto test, the Continentals came out as the best tyre overall, largely because of their wet capability (the best of a bad bunch in the wet).

Thank for this - I wonder if the new Cup 2's are going to be better in the wet than the CFC or if (as am in the UK not a beautiful sunny clime like OZ!) I should just plump for the MSS's instead as they are a known quantity... decisions decisions!

Yes I fear that - it's only in 20" sizes atm or so I have read. Was hoping they might roll other sizes out quickly but I guess it's a wait till summer 2014 at best now...

Well I am in Oz and as it is my daily drive with track days every couple of months I am looking for the best compromise with a bias towards the track. I will see if I can get the CFC here.

On my fourth set of the Continentals, much better in the wet/ cold than sport cups, for me as good in the dry.

How have you found them in the wet in normal driving but with standing or running water?

Not used super sports on my RS, but good on track in the wet not really used in standing water. Surprisingly good when very cold compared to sport cups, progressive too in the dry, feel quite sticky. For me brilliant!

Lastly sorry, I forgot to ask, as you've had a few sets how many miles are you getting out of them?

Thanks
