997 Turbo- Tell me the worst!
Discussion
Yes Paragon car is very nice indeed. I'm surprised the car I mentioned is so far out of kilt with rest of the market. It should be circa £50k. One thing I would say is you're far better off paying £50k for the perfect car than £45k for something that may perhaps not be 100% as its easy to blow £8k on quite simple stuff like new clutch, brakes all round and major service inc plugs
Ok so on the plus side the salesman was pleasent and not at all pushy, on the down side strangely as they new it was a 160ml round trip for me it was the only dirty car on the pitch, not the best start. The car was Irish, registered in Belfast and on Irish plates (not sure how this would effect resale), the rear bumper had almost certainly seen paint, the led lights didn't fit properly and the lacquer was flicking around them, evidence of a smart repair using single pack lacquer in the rear two, all four wheel centers corroded and a 25mm scuff on the front PU. They did say they'd do any paint work I pointed out but all in all not a pristine example. A quick look round some of the other stock saw a mixed bunch of some very nice stuff and some a little on the tatty side.

Hmmmm. I've been toying with the idea of these LED lights for a while. The centre cps do corrode unfortunately. OPC put this on my MOT as advisory! I replaced mine with gloss black ones - no point in putting the chrome ones on again for the lacquer to lift.
The steering wheel looks worn to me for that mileage.

good shout re steering wheel. I think the fake gen 2 led lights look average. 911 Virgin have one coming in which looks good value.
Can't see anything in their site "coming soon"? at least it should not have over revs. I've driven a tip and although prefer manual the tip really suits a turbo

Can't see anything in their site "coming soon"? I want to pcp the car so private not really an option, my budget is £45k reall for a car that's only going to do a few thousand a year, if the paragon car was just a few k over I'd stretch but 10k means dipping into funds I'd rather not touch, especially as I'll loose most of the extra when I come out the other end. If I was going to £55k I'd also consider a GTS as I think these will do well residually long term.
Its a tough one at that budget as you're really looking at the cheapest 997 turbos. May also be worth looking at the very best 996 turbos at your budget. There was a lovely 996 Turbos S with minuscule mileage (less than 10k) which sold for circa £40k. with a few thousand miles a year a limited production car like that wouldn't depreciate all that much in my view. Thhis 996 turbo S looked straight out of he factory but there are very good cars available for circa £35k. Its also worth widening your search to gen 2 Carrera S PDK cars - very capable.
The 997 turbo is not an improvement in every department over its predecessor. Whilst its 4wd system has more grip its not as predictable as the 996 Turbos 4wd system which feels RWD most of the time. The steering is not as communicative on the 997 T. Also the VTG turbos run very hot compared to the normal turbos on the 996 Turbo. Looks are subjective but both cars are pretty. The one bug bear on the 996t is the interior but many people prefer the bespoke feel of the 996 interior. Having said all this the 997 turbo does feel more refined. It actually doesn't feel have as quick as it is as its so good at getting its power down without any fuss whatsoever.

I'd considered the above, not ideal being at the bottom end of the price range, I'll need to look at a few more but if yesterday's was representative of 997tt in that price range I might have to re think. I have considered a nice 996tt or Tts but I've had 4 996's and fancied a change, certainly not ruled it out though, especially as I think price wise they've about bottomed. My mate had a gt3 and I loved it but I'll still need the rear seats for the odd school run (2young boys). I'd also thought about a gen2 car but can't help thinking I'll do £15+ over a couple of years.
My local opc are expecting a couple in in px for 991's around Xmas so might be worth a look, gives me time to move my x5 on, snow coming next week folks

I wonder what sort of finance deals Nissan are doing on three year old GTRs. May perhaps be worth a look too. I can understand why you would not want a 996 again if you have already have had one. I'm sure a nice 997 turbo will turn up at an OPC or Indy if you're patient.
My cars similar to the GC car but with double the mileage and its in good condition so there are def nice cars out there of that vintage. Stick to respected Indies like RSJ, Paragon and 911 Virgin and I'm sure you'd get a very good one.

Can not believe I have had my Turbo seven years, covered over fifty thousand miles has not missed a beat. It just gets better I am going to be buried in it
+1 62,000 miles and won't give the car up despite my wife saying I need to get rid of it. Honestly not sure what I could replace it with in terms of a good all rounder. Mine has given up on me a few times though!
