Hi ppl,

Just a quick one i have a 2002 996 with pretty sure the 10j wide rear alloys (see pic of style) currently running conti contact 2's on them all round.

Rears are getting on the low side and was looking at the tyre profile seems a very wide 285/30/18 on them currently.

After googling a fair bit it was coming up with 265/35/18 are the recommended profile.

Camskill have the 285's at £202 a tyre and 265's at £171 each, apart from the cost difference what profile should be on them ?

Any help be appreciated smile

General brousing..... So no expert but 265 is narrow for a 10j rim. 285 sounds about right.

265/35 is the winter size and 285/30 the summer. I have 265/35 on my 10J rears.

When I had the car there were 265/40 on the rear which were the wrong profile and not a recommended size.

The sizes are in the handbook.

Summer tyre size for the 3.6 996 Carrera with 10j rears is 285/30 18, the tyre size for the 3.4 996 Carrera is 265/35 18 but I am not sure what rim size they have fitted.

Either 265 or 285 on the 10j. As alluded to by earlier posts, the 996.1 had 265 as standard and the 996.2 had 285 for summer and 265 for winter - all on the same sized rim. Consequently you can go either way without falling out of spec.
