GTR is a great car no doubt, its fast and its errr fast. However it has no soul, has no class, and costs a small fortune to run (esp compared with a GT2). I'm affraid there is no contest, unless of course you're into computer games
Really? Didn't know they cost a lot to run? Would have assumed they were super reliable?SpeedFreakDave said:

They eat tyres, brakes, drink fuel, need a lot of servicing, and things like gear oil change to pentosyn, wobbly gearbox output shaft bearings etc make for expensive motoring when all added up. They are a technical masterpiece, but cheap they are not..... I also spoke with one in the know who has concerns about bore wash on modified cars due to the amount of fuel delivered. This and the gearbox would make me concerned about owning an early car privately with decent mileage on it.I think all the realiability stuff is internet gossip to some extent. Issues also apply to 911s remember.
But running costs are much higher than a GT2. Servicing every 6 months for earlier cars or 12 months for later, with the big service every 36 months coming in at £1200 to £1300.
They are very quick, quicker than a GT2 with minimal upgrades (£1k), but driver involvement is pretty low. Only really (mildly) interesting when going flat out - and that's going some!
Got bored with mine in the end.

Evenin' Paul. It's about ten posts below - "auctioned gt2 reappears".
Read Ram's (Evo eng) post in that thread. May have a story. An email to Ram would be wise if you're thinking of it. He knows pretty much every 996 GT2 out there.
The one on eBay looks like a MK 2 but is listed correctly as a very late MK 1 with upgrades wheels and carbon bits. Thats the car ref in post "auctioned car reappears" .There is a MK 2 on PH classifieds with mods and Alcons etc.Two different cars, both been on the market a while now, could it be buyers want standard spec cars?Read Ram's (Evo eng) post in that thread. I see. No link posted and I wasn't aware of another.
