Cheers - will do!

Scud was an awesome machine, truly awesome and should never have traded it in for the 458, that said however the mrs hated the scud but loves the 458 and you could use the 458 every day quite easily.

Think the RS will fill an important gap between the 458 and the daily x5.... Also I can never get time away from work to make spa/ ring outings as trailering the m3 and all that goes with it is a bit of an effort. Looking forward to hopping on the tube/boat with the mrs and driving down on a Friday night in the RS,... Heaven

Caterhams at Oulton were fun but as you will see I got a bit brave revving her out in the middle of them and got black flagged for noise - boo!! It's a belter round the track tho'

I'm sure you'll be over the moon with the RS.

Get her down to Chris at Centre Gravity he works wonders on porkers - whether for road or track work.

Let us know if you prefer the RS to the 458 to the M3.
Definitely do this...I took my 7.2RS there shortly after I got it fresh/standard from an OPC as it drove like a dog. It was, and Chris found it set-up in a way it should never have been set-up. He and his work are exceptional...worth the journey and the learning experience that goes with watching a perfectionist in action.

Will look forward to your drive home report.

Rear engine setup takes a bit to get used to as balance feels so light on the front, but once you find confidence you'll love the drive and traction out of the corners (sorry if you've done porkers before) oh and the noise will be awesome too. That was my biggest surprise with the GT3, yours will be sooooo much better too

scud sounds like an interesting future proposition - great track car, bit too much on the road for most by the sounds of it but an event to drive

The misses will love the regular shopping trips to Belgium in the RS ;-)

It's a great road car. Much more engaging, if not quite as capable as a 458. Don't let anyone tell you it's not a road car!

And congrats on the purchase M30dus, you'll love it.

Whoops - didn't think lack of such things would make a car so unappealing.

Hippo lot seem very straight forward, phoned up this morning and hope to pick up the RS tomorrow afternoon.

Haven't seen it in the flesh yet so hope it lives up to reports after the drive down there in the morning!!

Regards the ceramics I've had them on my Scud and now on the 458. Not a fan of them at all either for road or track. The Scud would cook the brakes on track quite easily and the pads were soft as cheese. Far bigger fan of the steel alcons on my m3 racer. Think the tyres will give up well before a good pad/fluid combo.

Hope the drive back from Blackburn is a hoot :-)
Did you pick the RS up? Is still showing for sale at Hippo....

Wow, yes, and what a car she is. Only disappointment is that I didn't get an RS before now....!

All went to plan with collection on Friday afternoon, and took a trusted mechanic who looks after my race car to take a look over. Spent a good hour looking over things thoroughly and was pleased to find all the paint original, and all checked out good on test drive too. Car has also had rev range checked and operating hours read from the ECU and no nasty over-revs recorded, and operating hours check in with mileage.

The drive home wasn't a huge amount of fun, existing tyres are cups, not known for their wet weather ability!! Will most likely be changing them for the Pilot Super Sports which I rate highly for all-round ability.

The RS itself, well what a machine, can't really compare it to the 458 as they are completely different machines... I'd even go as far as to say that the RS and the Scud are in completely different camps to be honest.. Clearly bonding with a car takes more than a short blast up the M6, but initial impressions are that I'll chose this 9 days out of 10 over the 458 - the whole experience is just electric, a perfect balance between a full on race car and a road car!

All in I'm extremely happy and can't wait for the weather to clear up a little :-)

Great news, you will bond with the car I'm sure, it's a fantastic bit of kit!

I was fortunate enough to play with a 458 around Millbrook last year, with a view to getting one. Fabulous car, mega performance, poise presence, a true supercar in every sense. But, I couldn't bear to let the RS go ( which I would have had to, to do the swap ), it's simply that special biggrin

Enjoy....

Pleased to hear you weren't disappointed.

Do drop back in a couple of months with an update on how you are getting on with her.

Guess now that I'm really beginning to love my time in the GT3 I should update the thread as originally promised...

On first picking up the car I was overwhelmed with the rawness which left me feeling an idiot for not having such a piece of machinery in the stable sooner.

First love soon turned to mixed emotions and I thought I would never bond with the car quite how I had hoped and expected after the first drive.

Anyway, some 6 months or so on and it's fair to see she will be a keeper for the foreseeable!

So far we have been to Knockhill, Anglesey, Oulton and Cadwell Park along with numerous road trips, knocking up some 3,000 miles or so in the process (lets no even start that debarkle...)

Here are some pics of the first 6 months:

Safe to say the best car I have owned to date - and even the Mrs doesn't want to let it go (bonus!)
