They are both fairly cheap cars, but for a reason.

The tip car has rust bubles around the door mirrors? Not heard of this as a problem area before.

The manual is a bitsa, and an imported bitsa at that.

edited to correct tip and man to descriptions.

The manual car is an import from America. Imported as a narrow body 993 and converted to a wide-body. Also service history prior to import is absent and since import it has been self serviced by the chap who did the conversion himself (engineer).

I think 993 values are still on the up! RPR626 got a 1994 Carrera in last week with 50k miles in guards red and it was on his website for just a day before it sold at 44950!!! Crikey

They seem to be as mileage sensitive as Ferraris, lately... There's many cars at 30k with 90k miles, that don't seem to be selling. Then a 50k mile car insta-sells for 50% more!

Whether we like it or not, mileage is still the key driver for values.

Quite right. Most I've seem are Japanese imports, if that's the case with this one, I'd be checking the mileage and history intently

993 C2/4 used to start with 2, now more starting with 3
993 C2S/C4S Add 10k from last year 40-50k now.
993 Turbo up at least £25k from c£50k on last year, and £100k plus cars now

Less £5k for cab or tip.

993 C4S sold on ebay yesterday within an hour, £50k asking price private sale and probably achieved very close to that.

I think you need to up the gap between none RS NB and WB, used to be c£10k but it will get wider IMHO

Looked like a stunning car and only 36k miles, last owner 9 years, looked like a bargain when compared to the more "lived in" ones at £40k

Seems to be the case for cars of a certain mileage albeit 100k plus C2 manuals seem to be around the £26K + range for private sales.

Worth every penny and more. The 993 is known to have a robust engine and will take stellar miles if looked after.

In my view most if not all air cooled will head North especially in the long term.

I went to see a manual c2s with 50k miles last year with a firm view to buy it to go alongside my current 80k miles 993 c2s. I did not buy it because I was VERY disappointed with the condition.

My own car was way better. I spent a lot of money on it to make sure it is 100%.

In my view, condition is everything. Some 100k miles cars are close to new if well looked after.

Collectors snapping them up and storing them perhaps?
These cars are meant to be driven/spanked regularly.

Hello,
I was looking for some advice. I have come across a 993 Carrera 4 Cabriolet with 27K miles on the clock. White colour. The asking price is approx £55K. It has all the service receipts but the original service book has been lost. Any thoughts on whether this would be a potentially good buy or should I be looking for a coupe. The cabriolet mechanism has just been replaced.
Thanks

I had a '94 C2 Coupe and a '95 C2 Cab, both bought new.

Enjoyed both. Thought the Coupe looked and drove slightly better, but the Cab was nice on Continental trips. However, the current market seems to prefer manual Coupes. Big surprise for me was how nice the C4 was - drove a couple and actually preferred it to the C2.

thank you for that. I suspect I will look for a coupe as I feel they are easier to live with than a Cabriolet.

White very unusual - check it's not Japan import or otherwise non-UK RHD market with funny history. Lost service book not ideal.
