Hi I'm thinking of putting a new exhaust on my 996. It's an 1998 S 3.4.
I've been having a look at all the usual web sites and design911 keeps popping up on all the searches I've done. They seam to be pushing the Design Tek range. Anybody got any feed back on these systems or any advise on an alternative would be appreciated. I'm also thinking of de cat pipes too so any feedback on having them swapped out would be great.

Cheers.

Try Euro car parts for dansk exhaust systems, they do several loudness options on your car, and are good value.

I've got Dansk stainless backboxes on mine and may get the manifolds changed too at some point in the future. I'm pretty happy with them, especially for the price. Mine does seem to be losing a slight amount of the wadding, however. I'm not sure if that's normal or not.

Of course, there's a massive amount of choice available. Would you fit it yourself? If not, I'd ask your local indie if they've got any suggestions.

I have just had Dansk stainless sports boxes fitted along with a K&N cold air induction kit on my '98 C2 - perfect noise as these boxes are only 'loudish' at full tilt, but are deeper without being annoying at part throttle. The extra induction noise is useful as well! the car dynoed at 34hp more than test at standard and with hopefully better mpg.....drink

Just about to remove a pair of Dansk from mine and put them up for sale. Upgrading to a Designtek Valvetronic switchable system. Will update once fitted.

The ones coming off are about a year old and sounded very good, not too loud, just enough. Think they are the medium loudness Sport sound.

When I was looking to tune an M5 all the exhaust companies had mp3s and not a dyno curve in sight!

To my mind if I was going to annoy the neighbours and make my drive more tiring i'd at least want to be seeing 10% uplift, except nobody seemed bothered by anything but the noise.

Reminded me of playing cards in the spokes lol.

Just finished fitting the Valvetronic system. Factory quiet and then louder than the previous Dansk Sport sound when the valves are open. Best of both worlds. If anyone is interested I will do a write-up but unfortunately no pics.

I'm interested smile.

Particularly in whether you've wired up the remote to the blank PSE button on the dash - or are you just using the key fob?

Also, do you think you'll ever run just on "quiet" or is the loud civilised enough for day to day running?

I will write more when I have a bit more time, but just to answer a few questions...

Just using it on the fob but that works fine although a bit fiddly compared to a switch. I will use it in quiet mode on long runs as the deep sound could get wearing at certain engine speeds, but most of the time it will be on loud.
