Guys, just picked my 996 Turbo up from it's extended holiday at RSJ. I just wanted to say, there is a reason why they have a great reputation; good service, plain and simple.

I took it up in January to let them service the car and take care of some bodywork tidying for me. Nothing major, just a few marks that I wanted sorting. I bought it from them in December 2012. Though I paid strong money for it, I was rewarded by having a great 911. I have done 4000 miles, including one track day at Silverstone and it has never missed a beat. I had a chat to Joel, told him what I wanted changing (oil, filter, front discs/pads, brake fluid etc) and left them to it.

I had a phone call from Martin in the workshop a few days later informing me of progress and asking my permission before ordering any parts. I explained that I wanted all genuine parts, which I had said I preferred when dropping it off, but he still had the courtesy to call and check with me in case I had changed my mind. I was kept informed of all costs at all times, like when they noticed a small crack in one of my rear rims. Living in Gloucestershire, the roads are more like Afghanistan, pot holes everywhere ,so I guess I should not have been surprised. They sorted a mint secondhand wheel for me, then refurbed the others too in GT silver, all for a great price.

When I finally managed to get some time to go and pick the car up, it looked epic! Beautifully presented. Considering how much work I had done, the cost was a pleasant surprise too. Then came the drive home… Does it ever go now! The near-side actuator had been on it's last legs, so that was changed for a new one, with the cracking pressures set. I couldn't be happier with my car or choice of dealer. In fact, though Tewkesbury OPC will be opening soon less than a 10 mile drive away, I reckon I will be trekking back to Slough instead (a 100 mile drive each way).

If anybody is wondering whether to buy privately or from a respected dealer, try RSJ first. I think it is cheaper to do this than buy a car that needs 5-6k dropping on it within the first 6 months. At the very least you will have peace of mind motoring and a fantastic car.

I have no affiliation with them at all by the way, but being self employed and having survived for 28 years by word-of-mouth, I'm happy to promote good service. I'm equally happy to slate bad service too!

Can't wait for some sunshine to have a good hoon now….
