Anyone know of one coming up for sale? I'm keen to get back in one. Will probably sell my 4.0 as I just don't believe its half as good again! I'd also be happy to put miles on the 3.8 and use it with less of a conscience.

Thanks in advance.

Just use the the 4.0 !

Why own the better car and not use it ?
If you bought it new you are always going to be in pocket.

I paid a lot for it, so it owes me a big chunk. Plan is to sell it to someone who thinks the car will be worth twice what is now in x months/years, then buy one back when it all returns to normality.

If that doesn't work then I'll be stuck with a 3.8, no big loss there! The 3.8 at c 95-100k is the car to have at present given the values of 4.0's!

I just want a car to use and enjoy.

Hi Naz
How you doing?
Took out a 458 and loved it so only thinking about selling. Not definite as I absolutely love the RS and by the amount of messages I have received there seem to be a lot of people trying to find good ones.
Not that it's all about money but a 458 does look like financial suicide as everyone keeps pointing out!!

Hi Rupert, the 458 is a great car as well. You might miss the manual shifts, but otherwise nothing not to like. Great pace, steering is lovely and it's quite playful.

Financially, the 7.2 has to be the better bet despite the ridonculous offer you seem to have had from a dealer.

Selling the 4 litre would be an act of insanity if you ask me. Just use the damn thing - there are so few UK RHD ones in existence that in the long term it shouldn't actually be that mileage sensitive. Only sell if you need the money I would say - they are never going down in value {spoken with resentment - if I could have got one for retail price I would have, but I'll never own one now frown }.

Only time will tell. Ultimately a sound investment yes, but short/medium term?

Nothing goes up forever, investors are buying cars not enthusiasts. As soon as there is an inkling that the market is plateauing everyone will try and dump their cars.......you can guess the rest. It doesn't make sense, exponential rises as we are seeing now.

As for my 3.8 spec, don't mind. Prefer grey with gold, but apart from that I'm relaxed. Relaxed full stop actually.

For what its worth, I think you are making a HUGE mistake.

These are only going one way. And its not down. Never.

Keep and enjoy! Don't be afraid to use it!

I agree with MTR. Yours has what 5000 miles on it. So with 20,000 miles on it it will be worth what zero less. Enjoy it as lifes to short. He who dies with the most toys with the minimal of miles wins. Don't think so wink

Pistol, you've admired mine previously, but unlikely to be for sale, especially after the 991 debacle. Seawise has first dibs if I do sell, but he seems to prefer older ones again at moment. However, will keep you in mind if circumstances change, as they so often do in life. It's got about 8k miles and is a 2011. Pics in profile and in recent 6RS Spa thread. Quite rare in this colour combo. Only other one I've seen was the original PGB press car.

Unless you need the money (and it seems you probably don't!), why not just buy a 7.2 RS and store away the 4.0? in 5 years time, assuming the world hasn't gone to the stter, the 4.0 will likely be a good amount higher than now (even if apolo1's expectations are a bit high). Plus the 7.2 probably would not have lost anything either...

No doubt the 997.2 RS is in demand it seems – I posted a picture of mine on Twitter earlier today and have had several unsolicited enquiries as a result…

After all the soul searching I did earlier in the year about whether to sell it on or use it, I’ve just brought it back in to use and even with only a few extra miles under it’s belt it has reminded me why I love these cars so much.
There really is nothing like it any more.
