Unless you are a collector the joy of ownership is in the fact that you can use your vehicle for its intended purpose and as an added bonus probably not loose money on it. To buy a 997.2 and then stack the 4.0 away makes very little sense. If you have surplus cash buy some shares, property or bonds as statistically they are probably going to outperform 4.0 Porsches over the longer term anyway.

I am not a collector and I do intend to use my 4.0, I just might use a 3.8 as well. I don't really care whether the price goes up or down. The only reason I contemplated selling my 4.0 was because I felt I could get someone to pay obscene money for it today. Then for a bit of fun, I can sit and wait for the market to turn. For me, in real world terms, there just isn't that much difference between a 4.0 and 3.8 that's all.

As for property and shares, you make a valid point. But I work in property and that is covered. I always seem to be pretty poorly with shares and I have no interest in them. I like cars and have so far made money from them, which has been a bonus but also a distraction. It makes me think more about values then ideally I'd like to.

Does it matter on this type of car if the condition is OK? heavily tracked by 4 owners for 10k miles would have me think again.

My concern would be that clearly none of these owners looked upon the car as a keeper... So if you knew you were only keeping a car for 3 months and 2K miles why wouldn't you "ride it like Sea Biscuit" - so to speak?

Alternative - 4 devoted owners who lavished a lot of attention, after all it is an expensive purchase.

Current condition and rev-range data would interest me more than a 1 owner car if that was not in good condition.

Indeed, goes without saying.

+1 condition and rev info over number of owners. That means nothing IMO. I'm 4th owner on a 7.1 RS 1st and 2nd owners over serviced and it got everything it needed. 3rd had it a short time but still spent money on it before the sale. More owners isn't always bad. And let's not start the high miles debate... smile

I'm another looking for the correct spec Gen2. Missed out on a grey one at an OPC recently by a few hours. Ideally I want PCCB as I'm a tart and don't like cleaning wheels smile

This car looks familiar. Isn't it the one discussed in another thread on here with aftermarket buckets etc

Pads & rotors replaced at 5,231mls so that looks quite likely. Oh and a deposit has already been taken.

No, you're thinking of my car, and the only aftermarket thing in it is ME

This Hippo car was underpriced, the same age spec in Europe is now £105K, theres lots of love for the 3.8RS

Looks so much cooler without the decals......but then I am biased!

There really are not many cars about at the moment, glad I got in before Christmas when there were at least typically two cars available at any one time.
