Well, having a strange heater related issue at the moment.

Last week I started getting an anti freeze or oil smell coming through the air vents with warm air. Also the windows would fog slightly.
Did some research and the finger pointed at the Heater matrix leaking. Car went in a couple of days ago to be sorted.
Mechanic pulls the matrix out and its in really good condition with no signs of leaking coolant anywhere. He takes it down the road to be pressure tested and all is well.
He bolts it back together, bleeds the system and the problem remains.Yesterday morning on the way home from work all of the glass fogged up and had the same smell in the car.

So I guess the question is....What else could it be? With the temp on Lo and the fan off all is well,no fogging or smell. My thoughts now are that something is leaking into the vents or ductwork somewhere and when the warm air hits it it evapourates.Maybe Aircon related as that does not blow cold?
Also thought the car may be getting damp inside but ive had a good hunt about and its as dry as a bone.

Should also add that the car has a small water leak at the front R/H/S roughly where the front diff is.This is being sorted Monday.Does anyone think the 2 are related?

Any more ideas??

..It's most likely that the A/C rads are shot too.
If the A/C won't click in when you press the button, it's run out of gas, and this usually means the A/C rads are NFG, As the front end will be in bits anyway I would change both the water rads, and both the A/C rads at the same time, clear all the leaves and twigs out.. regas and see if your smell goes away when the aircon is working.

As a preventative measure do all 4 radiators at the same time and save yourself coming back to the same problem in a few months and taking it all to bits again, c£1250-1500 all in @ a good Indie inc a regas/VAT..

You can do a leak down test on the A/C system, but 9/10 times it's the rads on these cars @ 10 years old + now..
