I went the opposite way: 996 road car with Cup bits. Stupidly expensive. Also, once it's track optimised it's horrible on the road. Best to buy a Cup car and trailer it.

I now have the cupcar and our first outing is at brands on Wednesday

Will be experimenting with tyres and using a coach from the moment we turn the first wheel

Very impressed with the new cupcar, we ran on wets and slicks and it was awesome

I do want to try a type 1B track tyre for a test race this autumn, any suggestions from experience that will last 40 minutes

I found the same problem with my 993 RSR in Modern Classics as well. Like your cup I run 18s but the only really suitable tyres are in 19s. I have had to run tyres that are really too narrow for whats needed.

Majordad we have tracked down some wheels that are 19" centre lock and compatible with the cupcar fitments from Forgeline.com this might sort out the issue so we can run 19" track tyres but I think I have to accept defeat and do events on slicks going forward rather than CSSC, great shame though

What tyres are suitable - MPC2s not good enough?

You can easily run 305 in 18" - Kumho V70A - medium compound should suit the car very well

Hi David we met a few years ago at a Porsche Club race I was driving in. You'd just got your race car and were considering what to do with it. Glad to see you've been enjoying CSCC. I've also just bought a cup car and am wondering what to do with it next year. Have you come up with any ideas? Jonathan

CSCC Millenium Classics looks a good series and ran to the usual CSCC good standards.

Don't think you're allowed centre lock wheels in CSCC, are you?
