Have seen this at a dealer about 10 miles away from me, deep down i know it would be a money pit for this price i'm seriously tempted.

well of course there's a chance that it's in superb condition and will give many years of trouble free motoring.

Then there's the much more likely thing...it's a money pit. That's almost certain.

And who in their right mind wants a knackered 3.4 tip?

Tempting! It's almost throw away money by the time you consider the value of the parts if it does to pop.

Q1 - how much did the dealer pay for it?
Q2 - why was it so cheap?

Theres always the chance that its a bargain but I think you know whats more likely!

Clicking that link suggests car is either sold or ad was pulled for some other reason, so I can't comment on it. However, what a dealer paid for something isn't usually of any relevance at all.

Agreed, that C4 LOOKS pukka for 8k. What could possibly go wrong?

If that's legit, blimey a 911 manual for 8K, great colour also. I bet it costs no more to insure than a Golf and if your lucky not a lot more to run.

Thing is, when you're struggling to get a decent air cooled proposition for under £20k these days it's hard to look past these 996s.

Even if it's a bit rough around the edges, as a weekend toy there's a lot to like (if you can look past the headlamps). Parts are cheap, as are extras with which to improve it.

What's the worst that could happen? Engine rebuild at what - £6k? Aren't these early 3.4s less susceptible to failures anyway?

It's sold. I popped down this afternoon and a guy had comedown this morning from the lake district and took it there and then.
