only one sleep to go till i can go collect my 991 GT3 from Top 555 @ Breydon Water. I know I haven't had the epic waiting time of the original owner but the 3 week wait has been torture so tomorrow can't come quick enough

In the time I've been waiting I've been back to the same dealer to see if they had something i could replace my BMW 520 M.Sport with and I bought this so i should have a cool looking drive

The big question now is which car is the wife driving home. I've told her the seats in the GT only go forwards and backwards so she probably wouldn't be able to see where she was going as she's only 5ft tall, and at the end of the day theres no way I'm going to watch someone else drive my dream car from the dealers for the first time no matter how nice the seat is I'm sat on.

To be honest I don't give a monkeys what it looks like. After the last 4 years I've put up with and what my future holds after a blind driver knocked me off my m/bike on a dual carriageway. I have 2 legs that where severely damaged (one completely smashed from the knee down) an arm that was left paralysed and then amputated at a later date and a collapsed lung. So has i said my recent past has been crap and my future medically isn't too good so yes I'm having a bit of a gloat now my insurance has finally coughed up. SHOOT ME.
If you can find a way to give me my arm and health back you can have both the cars and I'll gladly go back to work. And has for the neighbours, I'm moving. smile

Glad to see you are having some fun with the money! Also have a Cayenne in the family and, like you say, a nice driveway to have and two great cars in very different ways!

Hope you enjoy you new cars. You have good taste, white looks great on the modern stuff.

Be sure to post in the GT3 owners thread with your findings, especially as you have a disability, its good to get some balance on the GT3 PDK Discussion especially as you were driving a Ducati previously.

eekeek Bet airport security love you ! !

Your "situation" is the perfect illustration as to why I've never done the bike "thing". I've no doubt they're an epic adrenaline hit and faster than just about anything else on the road, but the risks are just waaaaaay too high.
And if that makes me "a big girls blouse", I can live with it. biggrin

Hope you enjoy the new toy, I suspect you will smile

Sorry to here about your misfortune and health issues, the worst post comment was massively tongue in cheek though hence the three full stops, large gap and then a smilie.

I must spend too long in the lounge as it's quite a common joke.

Good cars, I hope you enjoy them..

I suspect a top555 prepped car is in better nick than a lot of new OPC cars - they are a pretty fastidious bunch!

Near Rutland water not Breydon water - sorry to be pedantic (I live 3 miles up the road from them)

Great cars - didn't fancy the guards red GT3 they have?

I think you misinterpreted pete's post - it was a friendly bit of banter, hence the smilie.

The cars look great - what's the full spec of the GT3?!

They do have some stunning cars with next to no mileage. to be honest there isn't a car in there I wouldn't have. The new Lamborghini Huracan they have at the minute is a fantastic looking car. The GT3 that i bought only has 95 miles on the clock and the previous owner has detailed the car to an excessive point. Its one of the cleanest cars I've ever seen.

Sorry Pete, i do see now how you meant your post to be. I think that after posting the pictures in a way i was expecting a negative response from someone. I didn't notice the smiley straight away.

The GT3 has the usual spec with carbon bucket seats, satnav, dynamic chassis control, sport chrono plus, full leather with red stitching, Bi-xenon with dynamic light system and sports exhaust. Unfortunately it doesn't have the cage but it may be something i'll look to install one in the future if its possible.

No worries, I got my 997 GT3 out of the garage today, had two new front tyres fitted, took it of SORN, re-activated the tracker and took it out for a blast, having not driven it since July it was like getting it all over again, great cars, I'm sure you will love it, and the PDK box will be a real bonus with regards to your enjoyment of the car I bearing in mind your health issues.

Mr. D.G.

Felt the need to respond! Some people on this forum feel the need to respond to our enthusiasm with an element of sarcasm. You have had a truly awful experience to relate. Good on you for moving on , your cars are immense. get yourself booked onto the Porsche driving experience at Silverstone. you will then realise what a weapon your GT3 really is.

Thanks Rob. Unfortunately as I said earlier I was expecting someone to respond in a negative manner but I did misunderstand the post earlier, has he said it was said in a humerous way. I agree on the Silverstone training. I'm going to use the car in a subdued way partly to get used to it but mainly due to the roads. It's not the best time of year to cut your teeth in a car like the GT3. First impressions though are that the car is awesome. Even with my subdued driving its easy to see the cars potential, and the noise it makes is epic. If I had to pick something not to the standard I was expecting though I'd have to issay that the steering column controls feel a bit cheap. My last cars have been BMW's. The GT3 (and Cayenne) controls don't have the same quality feel or click of its German brother. But at the end of the day it's a minute part of an extreme car. The cayenne on the other hand, even though its a diesel feels like a luxury limo in comparison. I can't believe how quiet and smooth the ride is.part of me feels extremely lucky to have the 2 cars I have. But the other part of me would swap them in a heart beat. On the plus side regarding my health, I found a doctor in Liverpool who's going to do an Op (my 11th) on my spinal column in the new year and he seems confident that he can help with the phantom pain I get in what was my right arm.

Dean.

apparently the previous owner has bought every GT3 & RS thats been produced. With the GT3 engine issue his car was delayed. He only received it in July, the paperwork says the engine was replaced at the factory. he traded it on has he's expecting the delivery of an RS. I don't think he is the sort of person who would use the car in bad weather so he probably decided there was no point holding on to it if there was a good offer on the table. Speaking to the dealer it sounded like it was hard work getting the guy to sell it and he even had thoughts of pulling out at the last minute. At the end of the day I don't really care. I got a cracking car that WAS cleaner than a new one.
