thinking of taking the plunge and buying a 996gt3

Done most of the above list to my 6.2 CS but at £35k 2 yrs ago reckon I'm still in profit. Interested in the switchable exhaust though, what and where from please??
The exhaust is from Nine Excellence. Picked up the car yesterday so not had the chance to compare against an earlier dyno trace of the car pre change. However, seat of the pants feels much punchier mid range....and more aural! Difficult to judge top end proper;y on dampish public roads...but feels promising.
My car had a factory fitted pse kit complete with standard dash button to switch the exhaust (not a regular option on GT3s but was available if you were nice with your local OPC). Ken has managed to wire up the exhaust flaps to the button so that I can chose loud or not loud...
The tips are standard GT3...so overall the car still looks standard which is the way I like it (well, apart from the BBS LMs and cup steering wheel )

That is the second camera from my vbox unit....pointing at the pedals...it will become novelty viewing in years to come
I take it the camera is fairly lightweight ? If so some decent quality, thick cable ties would be friendlier to your limbs in the event something untoward happens. That is the second camera from my vbox unit....pointing at the pedals...it will become novelty viewing in years to come
PorscheGT4 is the new alias for Mrdemon!
As in, yes this is probably the fullest list of things that can ever need doing.
It would have to be the worst maintained car ever for many items on this list to need doing at the same time. But that's where a good inspection would help.
Generally hewned from granite. I personally believe they won't be coming down fast...but you never know there may be more on the market once spring proper starts.
Took mine out this weekend....so so so analogue...
A new cup steering wheel and switchsble exhaust has added to the overall focus.

I was waiting for the sucker punch It's ok. If something that serious happened there would be other things to be more worried about.
Anyway, with cable ties I'd be more concerned about the unit coming loose in the pedal well :eek

I guess that the title says it all. I have fancied one for a while, i am thinking Mk2 ad would love a clubsport. They hardly ever seem to come up. My questions are.. what should i expect to pay? are there any cars coming onto the market? other than the normal things is there anything to lookout for?
I will keep the 993 for road use and use the 996 for the odd track day.
If you want one buy one - you won't lose money. The GT3 is an iconic car and for the money still offer great value for money, I mean what else could you buy for the money? What Gt4 owners think is irrelevant, they have made a choice and chosen not to go down the GT3 route - there are plenty of others that would rather a Gt3 keeping the residual values high enough. Rightly or wrongly the 911 will always be the daddy in pretty much everyone's eyes. Good luck in finding one.I will keep the 993 for road use and use the 996 for the odd track day.

No sucker punch here You'll most likely be aware I've done a "high speed side impact test" in a 996 GT3. The impact between the side of the seat and my ribs broke two of them. Should the worst happen, your torso will be restrained by your harnesses, your legs won't be.........It's ok. If something that serious happened there would be other things to be more worried about.

At the very least I'd suggest you turn the jubilee clips around so the inside face of the cage and clips presents a smooth surface, and secondly buy some clips the correct length so you don't have long "tails" floating about in the breeze.

I can comftably purchase a gt3 996 if wished,
I wasn't suggesting you couldn't But there seem to be plenty of hand wringers crying into their beer that they didn't buy when the 996 GT3 was £30-35k....... GT4RS said:
Over the past 12 months I have chosen to purchase another two rental property's which give me additional monthly income rather than jump into the speculative gt world !
Good for you, I trust you're aware you can actually drive the cars and enjoy them ? rather than buy them and put them in a garage hoping they'll increase in value ?? GT4RS said:
I'm guessing you have kept both the 964 rs and 993 rs and now sit on half a million pounds worth of cars?
Good lord no ! ! ! I believe in "playing the motoring field", life's too short not to Though I've never bought a new car, and all the pork I've bought have been GT or RS as their residuals have traditionally been stronger than their vanilla bretheren. Mk1 Escort Mexico (1st car)

Please don't tell me it was finished in nogaro silver ?
It's the only car I regret not buying, it's was the car or a deposit for the first house back in 2002.
Would still love to own one today, ps if you want to re-live your youth and are after a opel manta 400 full works spec I might be your man!

Manta 400 ? phwoar, I remember seeing a road version at Longleat whilst spectating on the 1983 RAC. A proper wide arch LHD, Russelsheim registered car, with all the decals, four headlamp kit AND the additional lamps in the front bumper/spoiler as seen below.
That was the first time I saw a Quattro with the Ronal 8X15" wheels too ......
Tell me more about the full works Manta (note the rather special Impreza I owned seven years ago .......)
Thanks for all of the comments
anyone know this car?
This one has the bucket seats and rear roll cage, other than the seats being leather are there many other differences between a clubsport and a comfort?

From a driver experience perspective there is nothing lost by getting a comfort with buckets and cage.
The cage is less robust if you are unfortunate to be in a rollover situation, however, apart from that eventuality the comfort cage is good enough to mount harnesses on and the buckets give the same support.
Most CSs do not have the battery cut off connected anyway.

True with the Mk2, on the Mk1 we got the single mass flywheel, which makes a huge difference in driving experience... Been told that a Mk2 with a single mass flywheel is even more of a hoot to drive due to even lighter engine internals...GT4RS said:
Wrong time to buy IMO, prices have gone silly to fast.
If you have waited already I would wait a little longer and see where the market takes us over the next 12 months!
