Full buckets(918) vs Folding buckets for 991GT3RS.
Discussion
Can someone give a 1st hand comparison between the Full bucket seat and the folding bucket seat from a comfort perspective. I have sat in the 918 full buckets and find they have no lower back support...are the folding seats materially different in the comfort department other than the obvious folding aspect, lack of electric hight adjustment and option of seat heat.
This was briefly touched on in the main GT3 RS thread but probably worth a separate thread as the seats are used in multiple models.
My experience is from several a owning folding buckets and 15mins sat in the 918 fixed buckets at Geneva.
1. The fixed buckets are wider around the bum and a similar width around the shoulders. However, a narrow option is available, at least for the 918.
2. Whilst it wasn't a side by side comparison, the fixed bucket felt more upright than the folding bucket.
3. The electrically adjustable fixed bucket goes lower than the folding bucket which isn't height adjustable.
4. Neither seats has any lumber adjustment as such, but the cushions in the folding seat can be easily removed and modified.
5. Neither seat is as snug as the Carrera GT fixed bucket but both are more comfortable for anyone with broader shoulders.

Obviously comfort is a very personal thing, and depends on one's body shape. So the comments below are duly caveated.
That said, from spending 6 hours so far in the 918, my first thought is that the seats do lack a bit of support. I had a minor back ache whilst driving - nothing too serious, but the folding buckets (which I have done thousands of miles in) just feel comfier. Part of this may be the fact the folding buckets are fabric covered, and just "give" a bit more compared to the leather covered 918 seats.
For my RS I am speccing the folding buckets a) for ease of access to the rear b) because they have proven to be supremely comfortable (for me at least) on long journeys and c) they are great on track.
Hope that helps.

I had folding buckets in a 991 GT3, and have the 918 LWB in a GT4.To answer your first question, I find that the 918 LWB seats do have fractionally less lower back support than the folding buckets
An advantage of the LWB for me is that they sit lower than the folding buckets.
Everyone has a different posture and seating preference, but I find both seat types could do with some extra lower lumbar support. The rear seat cushion is removable though, so you can easily add extra padding.
The fact that the folding bucket has the option of heating may convince me to spec it in a 991 RS instead of the '918' LWB.

I have the 918 fixed back buckets in my GT3 RS and i drove 1000 miles from Denmark to London a couple of weeks ago and they were very comfortable.
I have the 918 buckets in my non-RS 991 GT3, find them very comfortable and actually prefer them to the folding buckets we had in our boxster spyder. graeme4130 said:
Slightly off topic, but kinda related ;
In the 991 GT3 folding buckets option seats, can you tilt or adjust the main seat or back angle, or is it fore/aft only ?
No, you can only adjust the fore/aft position of the folding bucket seat, the back angle and height are not adjustable. In the 991 GT3 folding buckets option seats, can you tilt or adjust the main seat or back angle, or is it fore/aft only ?
The 918 LWB seat is also fixed back, but does have electric height adjustment
