Lots of references to 'The body in white' is that some kind of translation?

Body in white is German for the unpainted body of the car, I believe

Indeed - generic term for the complete metalwork shell. For context, Chevy will actually sell a body in white if you want to build up a Camaro racing/drag car http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/camaro-body-i...

For track use or road use?
You'll have to ask him if you ever bump into him at an event but I know never specs a cage.
