997 shifter in 996 GT2?

So the GT2 is getting fettled, needs 2 new rads and I'm putting new PSS9's on it, the specialist who is looking at it thinks apart from this it's a good one and told me to run the PCCB's atleast this season he seems to think they are OK..

The only other thing is he thought the shifter is a bit notchy/noisy and I remember a few people here putting 997 shifters in their 996s for improved feel? Does this go for the GT2 as well?

997.2 standard GT3 shifter is the best of the bunch IMHO. The throw & precision is perfect.

Is the GT3 variety noticeably better then the standard 997 part?

Went for the vanilla variety, read a couple of reports of owner swapping from std to gt3 and notice no improvement. This should bring it back to as new feeling or better anyway.. or so i tell myself anyway as it's getting a bit spendy as it is!!
