I think I'm the only one that thinks the turbo brakes are fine, if I mash the pedal hard enough abs kicks In so I don't see the problem? I'd rather that then the current overserved trend with about an inch of pedal travel.
That's exactly the problem - the fact that you have to mash the pedal, and they just don't inspire confidence. Sure, they do stop quickly enough if you need to - they just don't usually give the feeling they will.My 964 brakes were not over assisted but were a million times nicer to use than 996 turbo brakes.

No. There is me. I think my 2003 Turbo's (iron) brakes are very good. Around town they are easy to use and allow me to be very smooth with the car. On the highway the brakes can bring the car down from speed in no time and way way way out on the highway can haul the car down from way over 100mph with ease. In the mountain twisties they remain quite ready to and do remove speed in a half a split-second.All of the above and yet they require no more from me than a periodic brake fluid flush/bleed (due every two years) and when I think about it a nice washing to remove all the brake dust from the hardware. The water runs nearly black as the dust is washed away.
Plus they last a long time. The factory front brakes lasted around 120K miles with the rear brakes apparently with enough material to go for at least another 60K miles.

Over 100,000 miles out of a set of discs and pads? That's bonkers. I wouldn't expect to get more than 10k out of mine, but then I do quite a few trackdays and the Turbo is a heavy car.I've been recommended to try Pagid RS4-2 pads, though even they will make some noise. It's the tradeoff for more feel/performance, clearly.
