Dreaded tpms 997c4s 2007, east sussex area help needed.

The dreaded tpms inactive warning light has decided to come on and stay illuminated on the dash, It looks like 2 tyres not sending information any more so guessing dead batteries in those 2 sensors.
Has anyone in the east sussex area hastings bexhill had any luck with getting them replaced at a reasonable cost,
Main dealers pricing looks hideous for something I find quite useless,and looks expensive just to turn a friggin annoying light out,It would be good to know if someone in my area has successfully had these infernal items replaced at reasonable cost

OEM versions available here for about £200/set of 4 + shipping, tax and possible duty. Non OEM much cheaper.

The OEM versions are the same as from any Porsche centre. As for fitting its just bolt in and go. Can done by just using any tyre bead breaker to push down next to valve to gain access. System will automatically relearn new ones after a few minutes driving. All mine, 3 sets, are still working at the moment but when time comes this source or other similar will be where I get them.

Without chucking a spanner in the works, the ones above are not OEM ones.The OEM TPMS are made by Huf/Beru and are more expensive. I looked at a number of different sensors before mine went and nearly bought similar to the above - that is not to say those ones are rubbish and dont work of course - I was put off by a chap on here that bought similar and they were never 100% picked up by the cars internal systems. I bought mine from tpms.com in the U.S and even after all the shipping and customs worked out far cheaper than what an OPC asked. Also to answer another question of yours, in my particular case it took quite a while before all 4 sensors were picked up and the dash light went out.
Just as a side note remember to get the right frequency..I seem to recall the UK ones are 433mhz? happy to be corrected on that.

Hi. If like others you check your pressures regularly, and don't rely on the TPMS, another option is to have the Tyre Pressure Control Unit re-coded. A number of the Porsche Specialists offer this service which removes the warnings and the options from the onboard computer. I believe the cost is a lot less than replacements.

I think to be fair the post does refer to the Huf/Beru ones which are listed further on and do seem to be keenly priced. The link just provides a search on Porsche TPMS which returns about 7 pages. I had them supplied and fitted by Protyre in Bristol who just manually cloned the existing sensors. Took about an hour to do and the car's ECU picked them up straightaway. They cost £300 fitted and look indistinguishable from the originals. That price also included having to have one of the old ones drilled out, as it sheared off when they were removing it. Very pleased with them so far....

This is timely as my 997 turbo now has the same warning. Initially pressures come up for all but rear near side tyre, then they all go blank and warning "TPS is inactive" comes up. So presume it's only that one wheel that needs sorting?
Yep, that's what happened with mine, soon followed by two others. Assuming they were all fitted at the same time I'd guess the others will spark out soon as the batteries fail.It's probably easier to replace all four, otherwise you'll just be chasing your tail. Unless of course you know that the others were changed more recently....

ahhh sorry I didnt look further down the list. Its easy to tell which sensor has died and how much expected life is left on the other ones - the PIWIS system shows you - its done by temperature readings and one of them was sky high and indicating zero battery life.Funny when I first bought my 997 turbo in 2010 the 111 point check from an OPC said TPMS need replacing. They went on for another 12k miles and nearly 4 yrs before the dash warning light came on!!!. My GTS doesnt have TPMS just wondered not that it really bothers me but can you retrofit it or is it to do with the original wiring loom and cant be done?..just curious.

and £350 etyres so no brainer....
I see there is an etyres in Wimbledon so might give them a try, is that £350 to replace all 4 sensors incl fitting and VAT?and £350 etyres so no brainer....

Good to hear.... I think you're previous thread convinced me to get them done there. I've used them for tyres previously and they've always been good. My only comment would be that they only have one person (Andy) trained to code them, so you need to check he is there before you turn up.
