Not sure if I missed a discussion but I just wondered how many owners would have ordered a manual 991 GT3 if it had been available at launch.

I don't know how to organise a poll but it would be interesting to know what the spilt would have been if it had been available?

Just returned from a blast in my GT3 which is my first porsche and it never ceases to impress and put a huge smile on my face smilesmile

If the 991 GT3 had only been available in manual format, I'd definitely still have ordered one.

Had it been available in both PDK-S and manual format, I'm not sure which I would have chosen.

GT3 is a great car - one heck of a way to get into the brand ! This is a tough one - I would have ordered in PDK , however since then I have had the pleasure of a 997.2 RS and TBH ,knowing what I know now , I'd go manual all the way - not as easy or as quick , but more fun - sorry guys ! smile

This hits the nail for me...would have had 1 if manual only, but with a choice............???????

Don't think I miss the clutch from standstill, miss heal/toe blips....pdk changing down to max attack when I want it to hold onto the gear does my head in, but you can push it sideways into manual...?.Got to love the speed of change up and down the box tho, and it's fabulous efficiency....

I'll prob spec PDK next time.

It doesn't matter, you wouldn't have got one anyway. OPC Cardiff would have bumped you off the list in favor of someone else who isn't quite such a tosser.

Having enjoyed a manual F430 and then the technology of a MP4 12C, but I really don't know what I would chose. The PDK s has opened the market up to a whole new group of owners. The car is awesome and so much fun, I am a total convert to Porsche but don't know what I would do if I had the choice ??? I am confused.

458 speciale needs paddles! - you would never be able to quick shift, fast enough,

lets, bring back F1 when the drivers knuckles were sore from down changing driving

If a manual 991 GT3 was available, I'd still have ordered the PDK. The character of the engine is best suited to a PDK gearchange, wouldn't be so involving as a manual. I'm now in a GT4, and this car suits a manual gearbox....what a difference an engine makes..!

^This ...... My thoughts as well, but also, if there had been no PDK option I'd have gone for something else, but not really sure what.

Interesting responses so far given the comments about PDK when the car was launched (what no manual !!) and yet the majority that have responded so far have said that they would have ordered the car with PDK not manual.
Perhaps Porsche knew exactly what they were doing with PDK only in that the cost of giving the two options would not be economically viable as most would choce the PDK option anyway smile

I think to get everything out of the car, you really need PDK. The car is just so quick and capable, PDK helps you extract more out of the experience and closer to the edge as an amateur.

I wouldn't have a problem with a manual one, but you wouldn't quite get the same 'hit' (IMO). I really like driving my 997 GT3, but it feels quite quaint in comparison to the 991!

Think this is a classic 80:20 example - PDK:Manual

Personally it would be nice to at least have the choice, and I think that's what we Porsche peeps got upset about.

I agree with those suggesting PDK is ultimately the better match for the engine/performance of the 991GT3, especially if you are on track regularly. Also much harder to OVERREV!!! eek although I'm sure someone will find a way.

Over revs with PDK not really possible....... with a 'factory' set up car at least.

that was the point I was trying to make - albeit with a touch of sarcasm :-)

Along with emissions reduction (uh-hum...) I actually think PDK reliability/fool-proofedness is one of the main reasons Porsche has been so keen to push it at the expense of manual.
