Diary of a new 996C4S owner.
Discussion
Arrived home from work tonight and went in the office at home to check a few emails and make some calls, quickly checked the classifieds and saw a Basalt Black on black leather 996 C4S due in at 911 Virgin, quick read of the advert, one phone call and a chat with Tom who was very helpful, knowledgeable and professional and deposit taken.
This totally goes against all my instincts normally to buy a car unseen, not even a photo, but a friend of mine has had many dealings with 911V and he has recommended them to me and I know they have a good reputation so I thought, hey why not you only live once.
So that's it, should be collecting the car next Saturday after it's had a full preparation to include a major service with plugs, brake fluid and clutch.
I'm sure it's going to be a big difference from the GT3 I had but it's good to try different things, plus it's almost a quarter of the price I got for the 3.
Pictures and 1st drive review to follow.

Crikey Pete that's a bit of step down the 911 evolutionary scale....thought the 997 GT3 was a keeper....didn't fancy the GTS they got for £58K seems reasonably priced...This totally goes against all my instincts normally to buy a car unseen, not even a photo, but a friend of mine has had many dealings with 911V and he has recommended them to me and I know they have a good reputation so I thought, hey why not you only live once.

It was a keeper. In fact the insurance company kept it.
The GTS is nice and I nearly bought an Aqua blue one last week but got beaten to it. In the end I decided to keep some money in the bank and get something cheaper.
I'm really looking forward to getting it though.
Argh!! I see......bend it like beckham....Doh!!!.....so....Pete - 2 / 911 - 0 The GTS is nice and I nearly bought an Aqua blue one last week but got beaten to it. In the end I decided to keep some money in the bank and get something cheaper.

I have a 997GT3 Gen 1 Clubsport and a 964C2 with a few mods. I love them both but genreally grab the keys to the 964 if I fancy a skulk around the lanes of Suffolk.
love a 964 Steve.......I miss my 964RS NGT Clubsport so I was seriously thinking about the Amethyst 964RS up at 911 Virgin but it would've had to have been a straight swap for my 996GT3 RS I dropped Henry an emil but no answer came back so I thought it must be an omen......for me the 96RS is definitely the better car by quite a margin in my book anywayHey Russ, no hedges were harmed I just got my left and right mixed up in Switzerland at the exact moment a very large bus came around the corner.
Easy done when on your own in Europe in fact a few people on the trip forgot what side to be on but got away with it. I was just unlucky.
Only going about 20 mph so not even a case of losing control just bad timing and carelessness when tired.

Sheesh...Pete.....must of been a bit of nightmare sorting that out from the side of the road and trying to get home I take it the car was un-driveable....easily done I guess if you're tired or not concentrating.....and that's very good point Pete definitely don't drive in Europe when tired.....I've done a fair bit of Euro-Hooning and fortunately (read: Skilfully ) I've not had any problems (Touchwood)with driving on the opposite side of the road the trick I use is if I'm next to the Kerb (RHD Car obviously) I'm on the correct side of the road...if I'm next to the Central white line.......paniccccccc!!!! I did once drive over a foot high kerb in Calais at about 80mph coming out of the Hooverport (missed our sailing/flight) heading towards the ferry port to try and catch the last Ferry sailing we took off like a scene from James Bond about 6" in the air crash landed.....nothing wrong apart from 4x wrecked tyres with holes big enough to put your arms in.......LOL......and the buggers wouldn't let us on the Ferry with 4 busted tyres....took a whole week to sort out Hahaha.....that was in a Brand new Mercedes SLK AMG......you look back and laugh about it now but I wasn't laughing at the time....DohEasy done when on your own in Europe in fact a few people on the trip forgot what side to be on but got away with it. I was just unlucky.
