997.1 pse exhaust sound or mechanical engine sound.......

So clearly a really big first world problem..... I bought a 997.1 about a year ago, anyway the exhaust sounded a bit pse'ie but it was actually not pse. On further inspection the advanced noise was actually the exhaust bolts rusting away, as they do.

Now all bolts changed for stainless steel ones the exhaust is 100% tight and actually super quiet!! maybe too quiet.... at tick over and below 3/4k rpm the engine noise is non existent... but and heres the but above 5k all you can hear is the wonder mechanical engine noise and actually above 5k is much better without pse so you can hear the pure engine noise, but above 5k is not very much of the time so should i go (i) pse hack, (ii) sports exhaust, (iii) leave as is... (PSE not an option, not really worth it at 3k isn)

I only turn PSE off for early starts. I can barely hear the engine at all it's too far away unlike in the Boxster or Cayman. Go to Gurt at Carnewal for a modded back box, sounds similar to PSE apart from can't be muted. It's only 400 Euros or so and sounds great. Not sure you'd be bothered about a bit of engine noise being drowned out by a nice sports exhaust.
