996 C4S exhaust upgrade
Discussion
Just be really REALLY sure its what you want!
I fitted 200 cell cat converters and a Dansk "Sport" silencers to my 996 C2 (02). It was *amazing* for the first few weeks, and then the booming on the motorway and the embarrassment of parking in the drive late at night on the odd occasion when everyone is fast asleep.... and I knew had to put the original silencers back on.
I guess that is why the switchable systems are so ideal!
Also, expect the original system (if that is what you still have) to take significant time to remove, as all the fixings/nuts/bolts/clamps will be absolute junk.

I had a Kline on mine. Sounded absolutely amazing. Deep and bassy with a top end scream! Responds well to a K&N filter, 200cel sports cats and remap. Mine made 325bhp measured at the wheels. Not too shabby. It definitely had a step up in performance. My friend with a 997gts couldn't get away on some spirited drives.
I wasn't overly impressed with my Dansk sport silencers until I fitted a BMC panel air filter - it made all the difference and I would certainly recommend fitting one at the same time. Very pleased with the in car sound now. I bought the filter from Italy and saved a fair bit over UK suppliers.
If I was doing it again I might keep the standard silencers but fit 200 CEL cats and the air filter. I've not driven such a car, but from what I've read, you should get a good sound in the car and some improved performance. I think the "sports" silencers make most of a difference to people listening to your car from outside it.

Gundo mod.
Doesn't cost much and just makes a superb (loudish) growl.
So glad my C4S has it.

Have it done on my 997.1 a few weeks ago, cheap and sounds v v good, no motorway din, just nice idle and sounds more beefy pushing on, for £300 or £200 if you remove the exhaust yourself it beats any after market exhaust unless you are doing the manifold as well....
Gundo hack wasn't an option for me, neither was Gerts mod as my silencers were rusted through.
Both indies I spoke to recommended Cargraphic, I listened to clips on You Tube & read everything I could before taking the indies recommendation & I'm very happy with it. Dearer than Dansk but doesn't drone, in fact as quiet as standard on steady throttle then growls under acceleration

I too have a 2002 C4S, my rear silencers were corroded so I replaced them with the Dansk OEM style Sport Silencers which turned out to be far too quiet so I took them off and modified them with a 2" bypass Hack.
Now sounds great, starts up with a little noise than before but quietens straight down, sounds nice when pulling away but not antisocial. No drone on the motorway, sounds pretty normal in the cabin at a steady throttle but makes a lovely noise when you open it up.

I have done the same to my Dansk Sport Silencers and am really happy with the sound.

Sort of got approval from the missus to spend some cash on my 2002 c4s.
Any thoughts on an exhaust upgrade, which are the best sounding / bang for my buck?
Also got cash for preventative ims upgrade
I have the topgear stainless switchable system fitted. Sounds much better than OE and no drone on both settings.Any thoughts on an exhaust upgrade, which are the best sounding / bang for my buck?

Its worth finding the ad on the bay and then emailing them for best price.
