991 GTS Must haves
Discussion
Just went to a Porsche open day, lots of 911's in various guises but not one 991.2 GTS on show. Thankfully there were all the clolours on display except crayon. Graphite blue did look very good on a 4S they had on demo and looks grey or blue depending on the light!
On a yuk note, new panamera in spahire blue with sapphire blue wheels and yellow brake calipers- it just didn't work.

Test drove a brand new (280 miles only new) GTS today. Thought I'd do it earlier than need to be looking at changing my car as the weather has been nice.... what happened, heavens opened and it poured with huge standing water! But nonetheless a great car and tested it in conditions it would face as a daily driver.
Engine was smooth power delivery, but a question for owners, and I expect an obvious thing, but does the engine build resistance with revs as it runs in and mileage accumulates? Like 5000 miles before you feel it stronger? Felt this on my C63 and Nissan GTR comparing low mileage demo cars to how my cars ended up feeling.
Drove a car with -10 PASM and no PDCC and no RWS. Felt perfect and can't see needing more. Drove there and back in a AMG GTS and the Porsche is day and night a better ride and steering than the AMG in any of it settings. Very composed, feedback and refinement.
Then I saw a brand new 4GTS coupe in carmine red and that set me off with colours again!

That's interesting as none of the approved used ones or any that I have come across that are Porsche dealership/test cars seem to have RWS on, or have just missed them.
I went for a long drive in my C2S with RWS today and the more I concentrate on it, the more I can tell it's working but I have to say, it's so subtle. When pulling out onto the fast lane, the car sort of drifts out sideways as opposed to being turned by the front wheels only. Hard for me to explain and probably not doing a very good job but the best way I can describe it is like a crab walks sideways. The question is, would I miss it if it weren't there, the dealership suggests I spec it on my gts as I'm used to it now but then I suppose they would say that to keep the price up.
Has anyone who is lucky enough to have a gts ever felt they needed axle lift for going over speed bumps/car park ramps?

I back to back tested two 991.2Ss one with RAS and one without last February to finalise my GTS build and i thought the difference was night and day. I saw the benefit at low to medium speeds in terms of increased aglity with less steering input required and eradicating understeer which imo was a problem on the non RAS car.I went for a long drive in my C2S with RWS today and the more I concentrate on it, the more I can tell it's working but I have to say, it's so subtle. I'm a naturally very fast driver so i benefitted from RAS more than a slower driver would according to my PEC instructor. It is no coincidence that all iterations of the 991 GT3/RS have RAS as standard however PDCC is not even an option...! I personally would not buy a 991 without RAS but maybe that's just me...
I've got the RWS and just makes it feel like you're driving a go kart around town. The rear doesn't skip around at all at low speeds and at full lock. Basically shortens the wheelbase by 25cm at low speed which makes quite a difference.
I've got the front lift as well, I use it all the time as there's some stupidly large speed bumps around where I live (sevenoaks), I see small hatchbacks scraping their front end so for me not worth the risk.
My thoughts were it's a lot cheaper to add it when it's new!
Regarding the higher rev's I'm couldn't comment as running mine in properly so not going above 4K unlike the demos you've probably tried!

The OPC GTS demo car I had for a day was specced with RWS. Loved the car! Could definitely feel RWS in some of the short radius country lane bends. Jd27 said:

Cheers. Thinking front axle is worthwhile, even if rarely used as its less than a repair. I've got the front lift as well, I use it all the time as there's some stupidly large speed bumps around where I live (sevenoaks), I see small hatchbacks scraping their front end so for me not worth the risk.
