I need some advise, sold my .1 GT3, ordered a new .2GTS, I had front lift on the GT3 due to having to tackle an incline into my road, is the GTS higher than the GT3 bumper as standard?
Spending 100k plus on a new motor, unless you can test a car with the lift on it, is it worth the risk? I decided it wasn't so out it on. If you live in sevenoaks, Kent I'm available for driveway testing for a small fee Am going to have a look at this car, at some point this week. Anybody know it?

Going by reputation these guys or JZM seem like safe, reliable outfits.

Sapphire is a great colour. A couple of colleagues have purchased from 911 virgin and they have been great to deal with. http://www.911virgin.com/porscheforsale/1144/991GT...

Hovering over, the trigger!
does look a great car, i just can't get my head around that its "only" £15k more for a similarly spec'd brand new 991.2GTS, i haven't driven a .1 but the .2 is epic... which just makes these .1 GTS at 90-95K seem expensive, you've got to really want that (slower ) NA engine to pay the premium IMONano2nd said:

As someone who has a 991,2 gts on order I would have to agree but the 991.1 is the last of the NA engines and because of this the dealers use it to rack up the price 'as a piece of history'. For me, it's the engine sound that would make me want a 991.1 GTS as it truly is epic, other than that, prefer just about everything else that's new with the 991.2.The 991.1 GTS is a fantastic car so if it ticks all your boxes - go for it

The 911v guys seem very genuine and I'd probably prefer to buy through them than an OPC (the agate grey one at Swindon was the other gts option).
I'm hesitating slightly as there are a few business decisions pending, but it's looking good.
Fall back is - don't laugh, it's totally different - an RS5 cab. It's heavy, lacking involvement, low torque BUT the fact you can hear that 4.2 N/A V8 in all its glory is tempting. If I have to be cautious, that's plan b.
The OPC car will have 2 year warranty, what does the private dealer offer? When you consider £10k+ for engines etc, just make sure you consider this in the decision making.
The dealer you re looking at has a good reputation so I guess they must offer some form of comprehensive warranty

For me the howl of the NA .1 is worth every penny! paul789 said:
It's a good question. Firstly, I don't want my first foray into 911 ownership to be a turbo charged car. Secondly, for me 1k a month is a mental ceiling for a car payment. I can put 10k down, and see how I get on. (I do know that overall costs wth depreciation, servicing, insurance etc will be higher. Basing calcs on deposit + mthly payment). That wouldn't work above 90k.

When are you hearing the order book will close? In discussion with my OPC at the moment about a .2 GTS but haven't heard this. They have said that 911 allocations generally are not particularly plentiful though. Was looking to order towards the end of the year but don't want to miss the boat.

For what its worth I just drove my 997 GTS after driving my 991.2 GTS for over 2 months, the back to back was very interesting indeed. Of course the new car is more refined, more up to date connectivity wise etc and the new engine is a dream from any speed at any revs. What was amazing was how visceral the 997 GTS was. What I mean was that from the close of the doors to the engine being turned on to revving up to accelerating the 997 was most impressive. Really quite astonishing, when you consider the 997 GTS are in the 65-75k range which is close to 40% less than an equally equipped 991.2 GTS.
When my 997 GTS was in being serviced recently my OPC lent me their rather lovely (and very well specced) 991.2 GTS demo...both manual coupe's. Didn't gel with the 991.2 immediately but by the end of the day absolutely loved it. Asked my sales chap to give me terms on selling mu 997 and buying the 991.2. As you say it's a 40% pay up (in my case it was 50% as the 991.2 was very high spec...circa £124k list). Thought long and hard but when I drove my 997 GTS it almost made me appreciate it more...yes it's not as polished/accomplished and the chassis is definitely better and dealing with bad road surfaces...but the steering and gear change are definitely better. The cars have different strengths...if the car was a daily driver the 991.2 GTS is the right answer....for Sunday mornings etc the 997 GTS does me just fine.Edited by Cheib on Monday 18th September 15:44

Interested to heat the same... Also how long people are being quoted from ordering to delivery. thx.great thread this one & has helped enormously in spec'ing my possible GTS.

I have also been told that production of the GTS is going to be reduced a lot, my salesman said that the prices on the .2 should stay strong due to 1- waiting time is around 4months, well mine has/is.. 2- allocations are much smaller on GTS. All sounds good to me in keeping the residules strong. Let's face it, there's not really a lot on the market for sale currently...
Mine should be around 4 months to delivery (perhaps a bit over). On the basis the .2 GTS has only been around for a few months, they can't be talking about ending the run already, surely!
The next gen 911 is due 2019 I understand from various literature online (some of it true!) and feelings from my dealership so they wouldn't cut the GTS until then. The .1 GTS was on sale right up to the very last .1 911 was made and I would expect this to remain the same otherwise I would cancel my order and just wait for the next one if it was sooner - what's the betting it will have electric motors to the front 2 wheels
