Dear All,
I have a 991.2 gts cab on order in agate grey. I am thinking of switching to guards red because I think grey is great but a little boring!
What are your thoughts on the color ? Do you think it will affect re sale value?
Thanks!
The first gts I ever saw was a 991.1 gts in Agate grey and it blew me away, totally stunning. Ironically I saw the same car at a car show and it had more people-me around it than any other car. If anything, I would say the guards red is harder to shift than the Agate Grey.I have a 991.2 gts cab on order in agate grey. Talking of colours, I am panicking again over my Lava Orange order (you think you've got problems with Agate Grey ) and think I should change to something safer - I really like graphite blue.

I think there is a serious re map of what gets made where going on at Porsche. The new Panamera 4S diesel and 4S Sport Turismo were due to arrive at dealers to full fill client orders end of October at latest. They are all being delayed till April build! So needless to say there are quite a few cancelled orders on those 2. Re the earlier build stop on 991.2 GTS's its important to remember that allocations ar eonly created once a order is placed. The OPC's tell a client it will be approx x date but they are only using best guess, once the deposit is placed, the order is submitted and the allocation is only given after 4-6 weeks. So given the macan is due facelift, new 911 paltform and panamera sharing platform with new bentley GT its unlikely to be business as normal. Porsche wont live or die on whether 50 more GTS's are built. I think current build date for a Targa GTS for example is April with May delivery now. In reality GTS's are changing hands over list with very little effort curently.
My OPC showed me a build date for Nov 17, if it was suddenly April, I would definately cancel as not waiting that long. I have sold my 991.2 S and am missing it alreadyhad an extended test drive on the weekend of a nicely specced 991.2 gts. rws, pdk, glass roof, gts interior in rhodium.
few things.
What can i do to make me love pdk as much as everyone else does. I just feel like passenger (even on manual mode) and like driving a 911 shaped touraeg (which i do daily). the gear box is a master piece but it takes so much away from the connection to the car. barrelling towards a bend and just press the brakes, click a couple of paddles and your through. i want to try manual at a pec day, but I'm thinking its the only way forward for me.
i have had time in a 991.1 gts and pdk was great, sounded way better than the .2 but felt like a boat on a fast b road. not as nimble as the 987.2 spyder i had at the time.
the sound of the .2 is rather disappointing. there are some elements throughout the rev range where it does sound like the old motors but what i miss is the over run sound when say accelerating up to 5k revs and then lifting off to let it slow down under engine braking. admittedly it is rare to do this, but there was a lot of character to the old na motors in this regard. from the outside it sounds far better. maybe an akrapovic slip on would sort it or a set of manifolds with the stock pse.
rear wheel steer was simply epic. the car felt so agile and mobile and in town taking bends was very easy. the demo car had power steering plus which i won't option, but defo nice if you want a easy daily driver.
the suspension on hard or soft was great and driven hard down b roads on the harder setting wasn't in the slightest uncomfortable and made the car feel more bolted down. defo an improvement over the old pasm. didnt scrape on anything.
throttle response on boost was great, off boost defo laggy, but i didnt mind that, kinda nice waiting for it to come in. the engine loves to rev however and above 6k so fast and you still get the crescendo sound which is nice.
burmester was shocklingy bad. the harmon kardon in our f56 mini better. it distorted up loud and had all sorts of weird sound levelling going on. if you backed the volume off a bit it was great but not worth 3k
all in a great car, but i still need to try a manual one. i hope its great other wise will have to cancel the order!

Ordered mine at the weekend. Phoned 3 opcs in different dealer networks. Was quoted april delivery but the opc i eventually ordered if from said porsche have not given out any 2018 991 allocations so nobody would know. I will be happy with an 18 plate.
I ordered about a month ago and was told April is their best guess. They said anyone who tells you a more accurate time is lying as they won't get the allocations until November/beginning of December. I've gone pts though so that will probably add a few months on.

Jay, was this the sports suspension with -20mm or standard PASM at -10mm? Couldn't get a drive with -20 so was interested to hear your thoughts on the car you drove.few things.

I ordered in July, was told by me OPC that delivery 'Approx' March time, but could not give an exact timescale.
More time to save up and add options.!!
Wow, that's a really long build time, I know someone (friend of a friend) who has just ordered a Ferrari 488 and it's less than that!!More time to save up and add options.!!

The problem with graphite blue is it does not photograph well. I have it and it is stunning. I have put some pics up on this thread somewhere. I liked Lava orange but it was not orange enough for me int he flesh, a bit peachy. I wanted a 70's orange. Colour is personal preference though and there is no right or wrong so ultimately go with what you fancy.
Miami blue is very cool as well, again another one you nee to see in the flesh.

I agree, graphite blue in the flesh is amazing. Reading had a graphite blue Turbo S last year - I needed to take a moment to compose myself after seeing it.Miami blue is very cool as well, again another one you nee to see in the flesh.

Wow, I don't know if I'd have your patience, but then again, there's not much else to choose from at this sort of money.More time to save up and add options.!!
For what it's worth, I ordered my GTS 30/06 and have been told that the specification has been locked down today. The car is due to leave the factory 23/10 so fingers crossed, I should be able to pick it up sometime around the first week of November.
Getting quite excited now as I've sold my M4, so keep watching Youtube reviews as I count down the days until I get my own car.

I drove a C4S on the PASM -10mm suspension initially and thought it was the way to go, but my dealer had a C2S for sale a few weeks later with SPASM -20mm which I had a drive of. In my opinion, the -20mm just felt more suited to this kind of car. I'm not going to pretend that it was like a magic carpet, but it felt fine on some of the back roads that I drove on. Speed bumps had to be taken with some care, but it still didn't crash over them or feel in any way uncomfortable. The thing that really impressed though was the cornering - I know its a cliche, but the car really did handle as if on rails. Any corner I got to, and the car just went round it. The roundabouts on the way back to the OPC were an absolute blast.Needless to say, my car is coming with -20mm, and I can't wait.
It's also a manual, and from driving the manual GTS on my PEC day, I have to say it's a great gearbox - much better than the manual I had in my 2013 991 C2S.

Was told they sold the 'last' of their 2017 delivery cars a couple of weeks beforehand, so I would be looking at early March. Fine by me.
