Ah, wasn’t aware of that, thanks.

That’s a great spec and colour choice you’ve made, early days but great to get your thoughts on real life driving experience as well

Just in response to those querying 2wd or 4wd.

I would originally have gone for 4wd,but delivery for 2wd was july and 4wd was november ,so I plumped for 2wd to enjoy the summer.

I haven't driven the 4gts ,but I did drive a 991.2s and 991.2s c4 at silverstone back to back. The 2wd did feel more lively and a tiny bit more exciting to drive.

In the real world,I live in the cotswolds with very narrow roads which are often laden with farmst which makes for some very slippy conditions.I have driven the gts in some very wet weather and it deals remarkably well ,better than my gt4 did .However I did buy the car knowing I have another car which has 4wd to use in bad weather,so come the snow if it comes, the gts will be parked up.
I would say the 2wd is fractionally more enjoyable, but the 4wd will allow you to use the car in more extreme conditions and on the road at sane speeds there isn't a right or wrong ,it is a superb car in any form.

Picking my GTS up on Friday, 2 sleeps to go smile

Mulling over the Porsche (Vodafone) tracker subscription. By all accounts a very good system however £235 annual subscription vrs £80 reduction in insurance policy cost with the tracker activated just doesn’t add up. To add to that, I’ve paid for GAP insurance and I’m not sure I would want the car back following theft.

If it meant catching a low life car thief was assured by having this system activated then I wouldnt hesitate however that’s not reality. Anyone else got any thoughts in this?

Thanks,
Steve.
I really struggled to get insurance on my 911S without a tracker and they insisted on having it (i have a clean licence as well!)

The only downside so far is the road rash it picks up in front of rear wheels, luckily I have the Porsche guards removed and replaced with a much higher Expel PPF, which has saved the day, they are not healing sadly, but at least its just on the PPF and the paint is good.
.
any pics? i had some additional custom bits done on my 981S and M4 - behind the rear wheels though

I had the same on my slk55 AMG, had to have tracker.

Isn’t there two tracker options from Porsche at the moment, the one with and without the key fob thing. Anyone found insurance prices with both options, or do they only want the one with the extra fob (I want to avoid this as it’s a pita, you have to keep it separate from your keys to make it worth anything)

And on that note, anyone recommend a particular insurance company for a 911, I’m coming from a Boxster and I know that at 130k, that’s going to limit my options. I have a feeling this might be the first time in my life I pay over £1000 for insurance.

I absolutely hate the tracker fob! I understand why it needs to be kept separate from the keys but I struggle to find my keys most days, let alone another fob (now what was I wearing yesterday, was it in the trousers or coat, oh there it is on the floor where it fell out of my trousers when I took them off!!).

I paid about £480 all in with Direct line or Admiral - it was one of those two but can't remember which for my 991.2 gts which has now gone in readiness for my GTS

Yep mine was £555 with Admiral, no tracker, parked on drive.

I did try some of the "specialists" recommended by the various clubs I'm in, but I'm unsure what they were offering for their quotes of around £2500. Guaranteed value not an issue as I have GAP, and Admiral happy for Porsche to repair, they just put up the excess a bit. There was trackday cover for a certain Clubs events, which I wouldn't attend, so I'm at a loss to explain?

£475 with Admiral, no tracker and garaged. £386 with the tracker activated. 11 years no claims and 3 points SP30 for both my wife and I. £500 voluntary excess. I got that on line, they were quoting around £850 over the phone.

All of the so called specialist insurers were coming in between £1500 and 2000.

That's unbelievable.

Any body taking Porsche GAP as I found it so much cheaper online

Yeah, it was a lot less than I thought it would be! Got a feeling there may be a significant increase in the post for next year though. Admiral seem to be the cheapest around just now, the guy I dealt with at Glasgow Porsche commented that everyone picking a car up lately seem to be going with Admiral.

I took the dealership GAP insurance, 3 times the price you can get it online however it all balanced out when a modest dealership contribution was factored into the deal and a few other bits and pieces.

I'm also with Admiral and no tracker required. I took Porsche Gap and although cheaper online, I'm more comfortable with this option.

Interesting, I used to be with admiral years ago and said I’d never go with them again (they messed me over with a no fault claim and my no claims)

Was then with direct line for a few years but they gave me a silly quote earlier this year so went with Hastings direct who were the cheapest on the 981 gts, half the price if direct lines renewal.

I was looking at a 991.1 gts valued at £105k last year and was struggling to get a quote for that value, seemed that 100k was the limit for normal insurance policies I found, direct line had to go to their underwriters to find someone to help so I assumed I’d had an issue with a 130k car. And was certain I’d need a tracker, so interesting to hear people have got decent quotes from admiral (at that price I can be convinced to go with them).

What sort of excess is that with. Current paying £630 on the Boxster with excess of £500 I think and 9 years ncb (I have 16 but the max they go up to is 9 years it seems)

Insurance is on the up every year though......

Admiral compulsory excess is £350 for over 25’s. I selected £500 voluntary, it’s worth playing with different VE figures though, the difference between £1000 and £500 on the policy cost was next to nothing.

Does anyone have any experience in which insurance companies give the best quotes for drivers under 25 years old ?

Not sure what I’m doing wrong, I have 17 years no claims, no speeding fines and chose 500 voluntary excess and admiral were over 2k! (40 years old, car in residents parking, I chose garaged and it was even more, was cheaper saying it was on a drive than garaged)

I then put the same details into compare the market (who are owned by admiral) and that came out at £1000

No idea why it’s half the price of entering the same details into the site, but I can’t get it anywhere near £500, even with tracker. Still 1000 is better than 2000.

With the tracker, can you say you have a tracker if you have the tracker from Porsche without the additional fob? They don’t specify what type of tracker.

I also don’t know how I prove 17 years ncb as Hastings only go up to 9 years so won’t provide proof for 17 years I wouldn’t have thought. I never had to send proof of no claims when I joined Hastings (?which you shouldn’t have to these days with them sharing info and today’s technology)

Under 25 with a 911 gts is going to hurt!

Presumably it's your postcode then?
