I have no will power, so finally about to pull the trigger on my first 911, a new GTS (2 wheel drive)! This thread has been really useful and enjoyable to read. Can anybody kindly advise me on the following please?

Can the 4S rear light strip be retro-fitted & if yes any idea of cost?
Does the -10mm PASM offer better ride quality than the (std GTS) -20mm - anybody tried both, I guess not much difference, maybe slightly better ride quality and clearance (I'm not going for front lift) with -10mm?
Rear axle steering - people seem to rave about it - is it really worth it?
Sport design package - as the rear spoiler is small not sure if it will look good or maybe go against the clean lines of the car - I haven't seen one in the metal so difficult to make a call.
Carbon backed folding bucket seats - I've tried them in the showroom and they are comfortable (and look amazing), also had fixed buckets on my GT4 - my heart says oh yes, but my head says no as I plan to do long Euro trips and I don't want to end up regretting them in the end.

Colour, all very personal, pretty set on GT Silver (classic colour and I like the contrast with all the black), but still torn as like Agate grey, guards red (my second choice at the moment!) or maybe Carmin red - something needs to keep me awake pre lock down! I'm going with red stitch inside, glass sunroof, etc. Thanks....

In reverse order -
GT Silver - great choice! Understated yet classy shows off the 911 lines beautifully. But TBH there are lots of good colours, Carmine would be my second choice.
If you want comfort get 18 way seats - adjustment for lumbar, bolsters and thigh support is excellent.
Sport Design - not worth it. Front is already Sport Design.
RAS - definitely! Turn in is sharper, and a big bonus is easier reverse parking and turning 90 degree corners in town the rear steering helps keep the rear wheels away from the kerb.
I've got -10 PASM and PDCC. If ordering again I would leave off the PDCC it's expensive and I don't think it does much at road speeds. Comfort is OK, brisk driving on A/B roads with decent surfaces I put the chassis in sport mode and it's still fairly forgiving yet rock solid control - would be too hard at town speeds in that mode though. The car handles single bumps like grids very well, but on bad road surfaces it feels quite uncomfortable even with PASM in normal. Most owners have the -20 and are happy, I have regular ferry trips and wanted the extra clearance without buying the lift. Might help to consider the quality of the roads you will be on most - if pretty good the -20 will be fine. The front will ground on driveway slopes etc (even with -10) but speed bumps are usually OK providing you creep over them.
Rear Strip - don't know, but doubt it. Looks good in black anyhow - it's a unique feature on the RWD GTS as it's the only two wheel drive 911 with the wide body so even a debadged car is instantly identified as a GTS by those who know their Porsche cars.

Congratulations on your purchase! Hope you get settled on options soon then it's just the wait...

If I didn’t already have a Carmine car, that’s definitely what I’d be going for on the GTS, stunning colour, pretty rare and contrasts well with the black elements.

As I’m getting the convertible, mine is -10mm (no option for -20 for sone reason), and I did drive both back to back at the PEC, and for me personally I prefer the -10, but I had the same decision on the Boxster gts, the -20mm sports suspension was just too hard for me as a daily driver.

I’ve gone for the sport design rear spoiler, as I just think it makes a small but important difference, pretty rare too, and imo complements the fact it has the front sports design bumper.

Thanks very much, very helpful, you’ve convinced me on RAS and will likely go -10 suspension. Feb build so not too long, can’t wait to finally own a 911, will be emotional!! Thanks...

Overkill I reckon on a GTS and if it's a manual they are not easy to H&T with...they pedal is set much higher than is ideal for that.

Wouldn't spec a car without them.

Just taken delivery of a GBM car, I have the Rear Sports spoiler, and it’s a 100% from me. It really does make the difference, my PCCB also are awesome, I also would recommend the glass sunroof, soooo glad I chose that! Makes the world of diffenrce.

This new GTS is a really special all round car, having sold a Gen1 GT3 991 for it, I can honestly say I’m not missing the GT3 AT.ALL.

Anybody seen a night blue metallic GTS in the metal? Colour seems to have some fleck in sunlight but I have only seen on videos. Any advice would be great if it looks good in the metal? Thanks...

Seen a 4S in that color and looked nice. GTS has black wheels though. Not great with dark blue.

Night Blue is a lovely colour but could be difficult to maintain and would certainly show any swirl marks or dirt. GTS may come with black wheels but that does not mean you have to stick with them, I had mine sprayed Platinum as I felt you lost a lot of the detail of the wheel with black.

Thanks everybody for the feedback, much appreciated.
Tuffer - I think your car looks fantastic, admired that when you put up the pics. Is the platinum finish the same as the GT3 wheel colour? If I go the Night Blue route I will see how it is with black wheels and if not sure, get them re-finished in Platinum. I also thought about the same finish as the Turbo wheels (as exactly the same wheel) but that might look odd.

Hey Guys,

My old man is away to spec one of these soon. Can anyone tell me if the no cost -10mm PASM option lowers the car by another 10mm?

Or does it raise the car 10MM from the standard -20mm PASM it comes with?

thanks

This - the car comes as standard with -20mm PASM Sport, so if you replace it with 'normal' -10mm PASM, you're effectively raising the car by 10mm.

You need to drive the car with both settings to decide. I initially ordered my car with -10mm PASM as I was concerned about speed bumps and the like, but after driving a car with the lower (and stiffer) -20mm set up, I changed my order as it suited the car so well.

Having recently taken delivery of my car, I'd say it was the right choice for me. Sure, on some bumpy roads you can get thrown about a bit, but when you come across a decent county road with a few twists and turns, it really is fantastic. I've never owned a car which seems as dialed in to the road as this, and even after just over a week, I know this is something special and it's going to hang around for a good few years.

Morning fellow PH's. I have a small dilemma and would like your opinion please. I am supposed to lock my spec down on a GTS this week for delivery in March, but i am in a quandary as whether to hold off the order and move it to a 992.1 as the rumour mill suggests that the factory will be tooling up for this in the summer. Im currently in a Targa 4S and i would quite happily smoke around in this for another 8/12 months. So the question is, what would you do? and what is the process of cancelling an order; would the OPC take a dim view of it as they're potentially loosing an order for this year?

First world problems i appreciate, but i thought id put it out there to garner reaction.

Cheers

Couple of thoughts....the 992 is likely to bring a price increase as Porsche might take the opportunity to bring it in line with the Euro. Secondly, the 992 will probably grow bigger...the 991 only just fits my garage now.

Depends if you want a GTS when 992 comes out because I imagine you'll have to wait at least a year and perhaps more like two before the GTS appears.

Just checked Wikipedia 991.1 launched Sep 2011, GTS launched Nov 2014. Targa GTS laucnhed Jan 2015.
