4500 miles? Christ it's high mileage now. You shouldn't drive it! You are decimating the value...

Now, on a serious note, if you look at the mileages of the 991.1 GTSs on the Porsche website they mostly average 10000 per year, most are around 20000 miles already. These cars seem to have been driven and enjoyed, they are not on the whole weekend, garage queens. Testament to their everyday usability I think...

Video review of the Manual 991.2 GTS here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxLtBQOXdjI Sums up how you feel I think.

I very nearly bought my OPC's 991.2 GTS demo which was a manual car back in the summer...great car but I decided to stick with my manual 997 GTS. 991.1 GTS with a manual box is a rare car but they do come up....good luck with the search if that's what you end up going for.
That review sums it up very well for me indeed. I've decided not to bother going to Silverstone and trying the manual as i feel it would be a waste of both my and their time. The new turbo engines just are not for me.
Similar to Spy, I'm also in the very fortunate position of awaiting a GT3 but currently have a GTS in my driveway.
I wouldn't let Guido's comments in this video be too influential in one's decision. His views whilst technically correct are somewhat skewed. He's coming at it from a journalist pov and having driven a manual GT3 first !!?

I've driven a PDK GT3.1 and yes it's utterly brilliant, so the manual .2 I have on order has to be even better - I hope... but the GTS is also sublime, and there's not a day goes by when I really want to drive it.

This probably sounds crazy - but I would go as far as to say i was ALMOST disappointed when I heard about my GT3 allocation as i love the GTS so much.

Just wish i could have both. spin

I enjoyed the below video review posted to YT recently. Shame the weather was bad but seems to give a good insight how special the car is (and ver quick!) and also I think the the engine sounds great from the video, rather than sticking a microphone next to the exhaust which never sounds realistic. Also this guy had recently spent a lot of time in a new GT3 and that certainly did not seem to dull his opinion of the GTS.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfxkoHCufX8

I was a bit concerned following the couple of negative reviews on here, but we all have different tastes / requirements we want out of a car so fair enough. This video has certainly put me back on track again. I was gutted not to get allocated a GT3 (thought I had a really good chance of getting one), but must say I’m so looking forward to getting the GTS end of Feb, if it arrives in time I’m driving it straight to a holiday in Switzerland early March to run it in!! Can’t bleedin wait... also a keeper and I plan to put many many miles on it. If you could only have one car for the rest of your life, the GTS would have to be a strong contender!

Sorry to say but not for me, far too much crackle & pop going on. I will probably get kicked off the forum for saying this, but I even found the noise of my GT4 was a bit artificial, too much growl going on rather than lovely pure flat 6 howling induction noise. For me the noise of a 991 GT3 is flat 6 perfection. The 991.2 GTS very different I know, but sounded good to me in that video and in sport + I think it stops the overrun type noises - which most people may like - we all have different tastes - makes the whole car choice thing fun....

I agree the pops and farts were not the best example i could have used, also agree that any GT3 flat 6 is amazing.

Trust me i think the 991.2 GTS is an amazing car and I'm sure that no one will be disappointed.

Hi all I’m new around here. I’m looking to put a deposit down on the following spec and would like to know what you all think.

http://www.porsche-code.com/PJKS8MW2

The only option I’m unsure about is PCCB, it was on a gts I test drove and they were amazing.

Thanks for the responses to my question about RWS - I have now added this to my spec. Although i’ve Got a couple of weeks until lock down, i’ve now settled on which options I’m going for.
However....
I’m totally undecided and a bit confused about the various ‘communication’ packages available - Wi-fi, tracker etc etc....
I know these can be decided upon later, but I wonder what options other GTS buyers have gone for, and why? What are your reasons - and if you already have your car, what’s the reality like? Any regrets?

Hi Spy

I had seen that clip previously and the T sounds pretty good in the clip. In fairness if i opened the window the GTS sounded better, but a lot of it is farts and fake burbles whereby the engineers have created some noise by dumping some fuel on the headers. The issue is that I don't drive around with the windows open, so sure it sounds good to pedestrians and other motorists but I'm in the cabin with the aircon blasting and can't enjoy it having dropped a fair sum of money on my new big boys toy.

Please don't take the fact I was not impressed by the theatre of the car as a condemnation of the 991.2. I think it is a wonderful car in almost every other way, fast, good looking, comfortable, agile and many other superlatives one could use. It just wasn't for me. I also expect that had i never driven any previous 911 versions i would have been blown away.

It was a bit like getting to sleep with your wife's better looking younger sister. Familer
and great to look at, but the wife's actually a lot filthier, noisier and more fun.

Thanks Tarka, I'm currently leaning towards keeping the current 911 and getting a 981 Cayman GTS to run alongside it. Unless a Carmine red, manual 991.1 GTS with GTS interior pack and low miles turns up. Or maybe a Unicorn which could prove easier to findsmile:

Ze Germans are being extremely efficient at the moment. My GTS is a January build so I expected it mid February at the dealer. It's already on the boat!
