991 GTS Must haves

I spoke to my OPC yesterday, and a "light" enquiry of my 991.2 manual GTS came up. i have only had it since June. Love the car, but one question is on my mind.
If production is stopping for 6 months, what on earth are the OPC's going to sell, also if they offer you silly money for your car, it is all well and good but what would you replace it with?
Seems an odd time to rebuild your factory, unless they have built plenty of stock cars.
First of all the factory is not stopping production for 6 months just apparently no 991s will be built from May to September which is 4 months. The factory always shuts for three weeks in August anyway so the cessation of production is in fact only three months. If production is stopping for 6 months, what on earth are the OPC's going to sell, also if they offer you silly money for your car, it is all well and good but what would you replace it with?

They are currently ramping up production from January to end April of 991s specifically GT3s and Ts to make up the shortfall..Customer GT3 RSs are going to be built from September along with a third batch of GT3s if my info is correct..
Porsche are the world's most profitable car maker and there's no way they will sacrifice revenue and upset the shareholders in the process.
Hi All
Am considering a GTS purchase and wondered if anyone has managed to spec the GTS interior pack with any stitching colour other than silver or red?
I'm trying to spec it yellow, but am being told this isn't possible. It was available on the GT4 as a configurator option, so while I understand it's not specifically a tick box option is it something anyone else has managed to do?

If it's not available on the online configurator it may be possible to do as a CXX/Exclusive option but will be incredibly expensive. You can spec alternative colour stitching on a GT3 but it's over £2k (despite that I have specced it on my car that arrives in April). As a bespoke CXX option I reckon it would be hugely expensive....I know you can order bespoke colour interior for something like £6k to £7k which means any colour leather and stitching/piping. To give you an idea the 12 o'clock marker on a GT3 is only available in Red. I asked about ordering it in yellow and was told it would cost £2500!!!

As we near the move form 991 to 992, well teh reveal will be thei syear approx Sept ish wiht deliveries in 2019 spring its worth mentioning one thing that may get missed. Noise regulations that come into effect will mean the 992 does not have quite the same exhaust note that weve been sued to in cars such as the 997 GTS or 991.1 or 991.2, i think teh PSE button will not be available and overall exhaust noise will be much muted. Now I'm sure many of you like me like to hear the car start and rev and all that comes with that, so im sure the new 992 will be more powerful, fuel efficient than the prior models but it will also be quieter. So sure you can aftermarket the exhaust but then you risk trifling with the warranty. owners of pre new reg noise cars will or may find themselves in a sweet spot with a car that actually makes a noise like we want it to. I dont really care for new infotainment etc or fuel efficiency I want it to be an event and drive well.
As far as the production stoppage goes, prices will be bouyed for this with anyone with a late plate 991.2 GTS , stock will be short on the ground and if you have a targa or cab GTS all the better, it happened when 997 became 991. This is a great forum, great exchang eof ideas and views etc but the fact remains regulations are due to dilute the way cars are made and perform in a way most of us will not like, id sacrifice topspeed for aural performance and day of the week.

If what you say is correct Sharkwerks will have a booming business. As far as the production stoppage goes, prices will be bouyed for this with anyone with a late plate 991.2 GTS , stock will be short on the ground and if you have a targa or cab GTS all the better, it happened when 997 became 991. With regards to the 991.2 GTS yes the shutdown will see prices firm but there are a lot on the market....there are 40 991 GTS's on Autotrader....there were maybe 10 on the market before the 991.2 was released. Also Porsche are pumping these out in decent numbers....IIRC there are about 300 997 GTS's in the UK....there were 500 991.1 GTS's registered and my guess is at least as many 991.2 GTS's.
I had a question from Erniemcp re my front grille's; thought I would share with all.
Ordered from Zunsport and arrived home in Aus very promptly Fitted them to my GTS coupe within 20mins.. The first one was a little tricky but once you get the gist of it, the balance are fairly straight forward except the centre piece. You need to screw these in with two (provided) screws. I was concerned at first about doing this, but once done, it looks great.
The photos aren't the best.... a very hot, sunny day over here so a fair bit of glare.
Would I do it again; definitely..!!
They look great, fill a void, and certainly do their job of keeping stones, leaves, sticks out from damaging your radiators.
Cheers

Talked to my OPC about the grills and they said if you subsequently had any cooling issues there could be a warranty issue.
With regards to factory closure, they are ramping up production prior to the close down and many OPC’s will be carrying more stock to compensate. After the closure 911 production will only be 991.2 GTS’s until the change over to the 992. So if you want a bog standard Carrera get in quick or you might well be out of luck. Porsche will not be producing less cars due to the closure, but there will be less model choice and much less built to order available.

Good luck with that! I’ve ordered a GTS but don’t like alcantara, so asked about having a leather interior but still having the GTS logos on the headrests. I was told they could do it - but it would cost me £5k!Am considering a GTS purchase and wondered if anyone has managed to spec the GTS interior pack with any stitching colour other than silver or red?

Where is this information from, as my dealer has told me that Porsche will not be producing ANY CARS from May-September and this could be the first time ever that Porsche hasn’t delivered any new cars in September. They are stockpiling cars to filter through over the months to keep a supply going.
One of us is being fed the right info, I wonder which one!

I think he means only the GTS will be built after the factory closure is over and not after the closure has began. They are stockpiling cars to filter through over the months to keep a supply going.

That’s correct - that’s what my OPC told me yesterday. Obviously no cars will be built During ‘factory closure’!The factory itself will not be shut - they will be retooling and making other changes to the production like.
Having been a loving owner of my 991.1 GTS i have decided to move on to the 991.2 GTS. Before i give an update on spec, decisions and delivery time (plus photos of course) i wanted to talk you through my thinking.
This will be my 4th 911 and this time i had decided i would go for something ‘different’. Discussing with the boss it was clear that only real requirement was to keep some form of back seats (kids 6 and 4) while not going OTT re. Us living in London and parking on the street outside house.
So i looked at a range of cars, settling on an Aston Martin Vanquish... test drive and near enough same prince used as new GTS i was ready to make the jump. A truly lovely car, noise, looks, status and yes smaller but still useable for my needs, back seats.... BUT... not a throw round corners type of car... hmmm
So, test drove a cab GTS gen 2... yes noise nothing like my screamer gen 1 but the power on tap, the relatively normal looking car (yes, West London) and the cab being something different / experience was what i decided.
The day of the AM test drive i put an order in for the following that’s due to be collected April:
991 gen 2 GTS Cab 4
Graphite blue metallic
PCCB
Bose
GTS pack (really wanted to not have this time due to cost but it’s a cab... )
Side skirts painted
Upgraded LED lights
Etc
So there we go.. another 991 and yes i have thought about the next gen and yes a GTS 4 cab with PCCB might be an odd / expensive option and yes i did look at the Turbo S cab but i just love the GTS and with no track and mainly EU driving trips for this car the PCCB made sense, noting the fade from steel on recent trips.
Cheers,

So I popped into my local OPC this afternoon to ask about ordering a GTS with PTS and was told that PTS is now closed pre-shutdown, and they are not expecting any new PTS orders being allowed until 992 production starts in November (although surely there will be VIPs getting .2 GT3 RS in PTS??). So small window of September and October for last remaining 991.2 GTS production.
