Based on my experience of owning both cars. GT4 a wonderful car and definitely sharper to drive than the GTS (GT4 feels like a GT product), but I would take the 991.2 GTS all day long, awesome piece of kit - refined, fun, very very quick and a nice engine note (don't shoot me down in flames but I always found the GT4 sounded a bit too gruff, rather than flat 6 howl) - the GTS just covers all bases. Also I much preferred the extra cabin space of the 991 vs the Cayman which felt very small inside. Rear wheel steer on the GTS a nice option to have. The 991.2 is a very special car to own, proper premium product. Sounds like a great spec you've gone for. The only thing I wasn't quite sure on with my GTS was the 7 speed manual gearbox, wish they would stick with the 6 speed, case of getting used to it but sometimes you're left wondering which gear you're going for but there again my co-ordination isn't great!
Thank you Mooro for your thoughts. I agree that the GTS actually sounds a little more tuneful despite the turbo, but I do like the dirty sound of the GT4, even though as you say it's not exactly a flat 6 howl. I also agree about the 7 speed manual and this was one of the biggest sticking points for me as a drivers car. The 7 speed manual seems disconnected and loose compared to the wonderful mechanical shift in the GT4. I did start to get used to it at the PEC though and found it could actually be rushed through the gate a bit quicker than the GT4, it just doesn't offer much in the way of feel. The PDK is an awesome bit of kit and perfectly matched to the GTS but being a luddite, I definitely want a manual, despite my reservations over the box vs the GT4.

I went from a GT4 to a 991.2GTS coupe PDK..I loved both cars yet if given a choice i'd go with with the GTS; with the one caveat that it had my 'must have' which is RAS..The RAS gives it equal agility to the GT4 while performance is in a different league.
Your current spec is in the 'goldilocks' zone and will be very sought after in the future.Try and get the GTS interior and opt for a nice but safe colour..My choices in colour would be either GT silver or Carmine red with matching GTS interior..Make sure you get the standard centre lock rims which are needed for easy resale..
I agree Taffy and it's a must have for my personal spec. I tried the RAS at the PEC and fell in love with the increased agility despite the RAS being sampled in a cab against the coupe I was driving which didn't have RAS.

Thank you for the spec tips. I am torn at the moment between graphite blue or GT Silver, both with the rhodium silver GTS interior pack. 100% agree on the centre locks. They're a must have for me too and love the look of them!

Agree with the sentiment. Lucky enough to have a GT4 Clubsport and a GTS Gen 2 C2 Manual. No doubt the GTS is the better car in my mind. The only area it’s deficient is the gearbox where the 6 speed GT4 is much slicker than the 7 speed GTS.

Otherwise GTS is faster, characterful without ever feeling that it’s M3/M4 lairy and - at the end of the day - is a 911. The PCCBs are great. I haven’t got buckets in the GTS, but that’s a trade off between every day comfort / usability vs track use.

If I had to sell one the GT4 would go - and, to be clear, it is a brilliant car.

For those that have moved into a 991.2 GTS from a GT4 what are your thoughts?

I currently have a deposit down for a C2 GTS coupe in manual with buckets, RWS and PCCB's. I need to lock the spec down by mid-August for an October delivery but I am still undecided whether to go for it. I currently have a GT4 with the clubsport pack, which I absolutely love, and would have to trade in against the GTS. I do three or four trackdays a year, on average one euro hoon and the car is used on a daily basis so cover about 8k a year.

I have driven the GTS at the PEC and really enjoyed it, especially the RWS and torque rich powerful engine. I haven't driven one on the road though, my only exposure to a 991.2 on the road being a C4S cab with PDK and for me felt a little too polished and clinical. I do think a GTS C2 coupe with buckets and manual would make it feel a little more of an event and tougher to drive which is what I like but I'd be interested to hear the views of those that have made the switch.
I had 6 months in a GT4, then soon after had a 991.2 C2 GTS PDK. I really liked the GTS (Mine had RWS), it has such broad capability, is extremely fast covering the ground, and I found it a hard car to find fault in. I didn't track it, but I'd imagine the GT4 would possibly be better in that regard.

The GTS has now gone, and has been replaced with a 991.2 GT3 and Carrera T manual. Enough has been written about the GT3, but the Carrera T is a real surprise. In the spec as I ordered, the T is 70Kg lighter than the GTS, and it's noticeable. Might be a curved ball for you to consider instead of your imminent GTS...? Mine has T interior, rear seats etc, but a 2 seat T with buckets could be just your car..?

I agree that if you can get Manual T with RAS, full buckets, yellow T interior and PCCBs as the icing on this very delicious cake..Get it in RY,GR or even better GT silver..
But for god's sake don't get the privacy glass as you lose the unique light weight glass by default..If you spec privacy glass please don't mention it as you'll give me nightmares..!!

Really interesting, thank you IREvans! How do you find the power of the T vs the GTS and is your T a manual? If so, what how does the shorter throw gearbox in the T (against the GTS) compare to the GT4?

What do you think of this spec if I did go down the T route?: http://www.porsche-code.com/PJKDD3X1

Thank you for your view IainR, i think this seems to be the general consensus. So jealous you have managed to keep the GT4 to run alongside the GTS as I think that is the perfect combo!

As I can only have the one, either car will be a compromise but I think if I can get a GTS (or possibly a T) with 2wd, manual, buckets and PCCB's it'll be the perfect road car for me whilst still being fast, capable and fun on track when I do manage to get to a track day 3 or 4 times a year.

Does anyone run Cup 2's on their GTS? I was thinking I could run the Cup 2's from April to October to cover off the warmer months and trackdays and then switch back to the standard tyres over winter which will still be super grippy for me given I run Cup 2's all year round on the GT4. Thoughts?

Absolutely stunning Tuffer. I’m at my OPC tomorrow and will ask about PTS. Can I ask what colour did you get the wheels redone in?

That looks great, hate to stick my nose on n but when I ordered my GTS someone kindly suggested the smokers package to add a power point and tidy things up. It's a nice idea.

You’ll be very lucky to get any commitment on pts at the moment, I doubt they’ll be offering it again before the 992 comes out.

Just watched the video with BOTB, congratulations on winning the car biggrin (and speccing it well no less).
Shames it's not RWD but I don't think anyone would be complaining for whats basically a free car.

Wish you many happy drives and hope that you keep it for a fair while (can't remember if you get car+options+insurance when you win)

Picked up my car on Thursday, wow, what a car! It’s rained ever since I got it so no roof down action, but I’m impressed by the traction in the wet.

I do have an issue with the windows not going up properly when putting the roof up, hoping that will be sorted easily enough though.

Saw you yesterday heading North on M42 around 1pm I think it was? I knew I recognised the plate from this thread! Very nice and making most of the weather with the top down!

Yep that was me, it’s amazing how much more you get spotted driving a bright green car!

Incidentally my windows just started working the week before it was due to go in for a week, and have worked since, a mystery, but glad they seem to be sorted.
