Has anyone had any updates on their current 911 GTS order? As I know the factory is shut down at the moment.

I did see a updated from someone on here about the only cars which are going to be produced after the factory reopens where going to be the AWD model and I have just looked on the configuration and its currently saying on the following on the RWD Coupes:

"This model is not currently available for configuration as a new factory order. Please continue to use the Car Configurator to explore the model. For more information regarding availability please contact your preferred Porsche Centre."

and the following on AWD Coupes:

Due to an upcoming revision of specification, this model is not currently available for configuration as a new factory order. Please continue to use the Car Configurator to explore the model. For more information regarding availability please contact your preferred Porsche Centre.

I'll drop my OPC a email to see if they have heard anything more on it but they did say I should get a update July ish...

On a side note with order spec, how many people have optioned the following and their thoughts on it?

SportDesign mirror with carbon upper section
Window triangle trims in carbon
Rear apron painted
Side skirts painted

Andy, I've just had the same message from my dealer... I ordered the GTS RWD in March & placed my deposit, with an October/November build slot & they've just mailed me today saying I can have a GTS4, or wait until the new model! I've never driven a 4, so interested to hear the difference from those who have compared? Can't say I'm particularly happy, but I also want the GTS, so guess it's one to have to deal with. I've also specced all of those items on mine as I wanted it to look a little different to most.
I drove a awd and rwd back to back at silverstone, and the are VERY different drives.

The awd is very easy, too easy maybe, and felt too safe to me (boring?)
The rwd is just fun, more playful, and felt significantly lighter.

With the uk weather not being like a lot of the rest of Europe with lots of snow and ice, the awd imo isn’t needed.

It’s very strange the only version they are producing from September is the awd.

Plus we don’t know what affect the gpf is going to have on the performance and noise.

I’m just glad I got in when I did.

Previous 997 GTS was AWD PDK and was disappointingly boring to drive as it's too planted. You definitely need to test drive one before buying. I went down the manual T route for slimmer body and bucket seats and couldn't be happier.

Another issue for cars after September will be how a gasoline particulate filter (GPF) affects the GTS and the rest of the range.

Its a curious one i almost wondered this too hence the comment about being close to a turbo.

had it been a rwd perhaps with buckets would be less confusing..i mean the awd gts is still a more fun and better looking car than the TT imo car however at that price you have to really prefer it

I've just been informed from my OPC, that its looking unlikely that any RWD 911 GTS's will be produced this year, so it maybe a case of my order gets moved to a 992.

So just have to keep my fingers crossed at the moment.

As above.

My personal preference is for a RWD model, also they are unable to confirm the PTS as well at the moment which is understandable.

I've just got a new RWD GTS, which replaced a 991.2 GTS I sold back in April (trade-in on GT3). I must say that this car is amazing and I missed it and I had forgotten just how good it is - if you can get one, get one now. The 992 GTS won't be around for a couple of years.

Hi All,

Newbie to posting but been a lurker for about a year and a half on this topic! Specs below:

http://www.porsche-code.com/PJ5ZFT64

I just wanted to share my purchasing and brief ownership experience with people and hope to gain some feedback on a few queries.

I opted for a RWD manual in the end. Test drove a C4 GTS PDK and personally didnt feel very connected to the car. The PEC allowed me to experience the manual and also the RWS options which cemented my choices.

I had a very long wait from paying a deposit, securing a slot to delivery as I wanted a 18 plate car and there was not point in the car arriving in November the year before.

Reasons for certain specs:
Leather throughout - I have 2 young boys
Miami blue or GT silver - everyone said blue to me, as I only live once.
Only blue accent inside are the seatbelts.
G Techniq - car stays clean for longer, tree sap also does not appear to stick as badly.
4 way seats - much quicker to slide forwards to get the kids out.
No keyless entry - parked on exposed drive. Has steering wheel lock.
Vodafone tracking - later addition, just in case for insurance. Best quote was Admiral at 900 and thats before I got my multi home and car cover with them.

Things I would have changed:
Front lift omit - never used it and the car has never scraped (even at Bluewater car park)
Ceramic brakes and standard PDLS lights? There is quite a lot of brake dust and the larger discs make a noticeable difference visually. Lights look fine in black or grey finish.
Folding buckets seats - very comfy and slick. Fixed buckets were too snug and upright.

Does it work as a weekend family car:
Sort of - the 8 year old does not fit in a booster very well as there is no headrest at the back. 4 year old in child seat is fine but he headbutts the back of my seat as soon as he falls asleep as he sits very upright. Ok for a short trip to the beach, not ok for a 4 hr trip to the Yorkshire Moors.

Driving settings:
Usually in Normal apart from I cant heel and toe. For more spirited driving I have resorted to Sport+ as the crackles in Sport get a bit tiring. Best suspension setting is Sport and it is slightly annoying you cannot truely personalise the individual mode.
Steering is razor sharp and I opted for Power steering plus as I live in outer london.

Queries:
2nd gear seems to be quite stiff for both up and down shift. I have done 800 miles in the car so far. Is this normal?

I have found the paintwork to be a bit soft and I had a bit of an issue with it at collection, my OPC resolved this and reinstated the ceramic coating. Anyone else had this problem?

Anything else to look out for in terms of potential concerns?

Overall I am very happy with the car. However, I have been considering a 718 Spyder but acknowledge production is limited but also a low mileage 981 Spyder as a potential replacement next year. How do they compare against the GTS as a driving experience?

Thanks for reading my essay. No bothered to proof read. Also thanks for posting up comments and pics which has helped me with the spec and purchase. Will post a few pics when I figure out how its done.

Porsche have publicly announced that the only models being produced after the shutdown will be the C4 GTS Coupe, Convertible and Targa.

I'm gonna have to test a GTS4 - it's a lot of £'s to spend on what I might think is a pup...

Perhaps in colder climates like germany and switzerland the 4 is the more popular one but here in Uk its certainly the fwd

Given porsche themselves have admitted the GTS is in their eyes a rwd coupe its odd thats the one they stopped making first

I was going to order a 4gts, as a nice daily/weekend car, but in the drive i had it was just too competent. (my last porsche was a 991 gt3)

So I'm not going to order it, as it is a lot of mullah, last time i has something so competent was a golf r estate, and that only lasted 8 weeks because I got bored. I'm going to order a cayenne and wait for the 718 spyder..

The 911gts won the revent evo group test vs r8 v10 plus mclaren and new aston. They tested the gts 4 fwiw

Seemed a bit better than some of the more recent evo pieces

Lol yeah it sounds like that but i mean it was a proper group test where they actually took all the cars out drove them a while ran some performance tests themselves and had proper photography.
